Modifying a Marbles Camp Axe

Very nice! I've been trying to find a marble camp axe. But they've been out of stock for sometime now. I want something light weight to go in my pack. I have also been thinking of cutting into another head I have. But they're good vintage heads. So that would be frowned upon. So the marble camp axe is the perfect project. Thank you for this post and the pictures to guide me along!
UPDATE: After posting I went to Smoky Mountain Knife Works. And they finally have them in stock. So I just ordered one. So thank you once again!

This is a great post. I especially like the way you detailed the process. For people like me who have just gotten into this game, knowing how people do what they do is extremely helpful. The finished product looks great.

Looks like the Condor "Greenland Axe" to me.
I just looked and it uses the same 1045 carbon steel head. Identical dimensions. The only difference I can see. Is that the Condor Greenland Axe has a wider handle. And comes with a Leather belt sheath. But costs $30 more then the marble camp axe.

Very nice work! I also love Bois d'arc and I have been contemplating making a haft out of it. Nice to see your detailed notes and photographs as well. Thanks!

My "Marble Camp Axe" was just delivered. And I am very disappointed with the handle. The Grain Orientation is so bad. Runs left to right when looking down the handle knob. And if that wasn't bad enough. My handle has a good sized knot on the shoulder. Directly under the beard. So it is JUNK. And will have to be replaced. But for $20 shouldn't expect much. I will be replacing it for sure.

I modified a Harbor Freight fireman hatchet and it turned out okay,
