Modifying my Hungarian

Being from a Hungarian family myself, this is a Spyderco I always regret not getting.

I agree that the angular spine on the stock blade looked really out of place.

Spyderco bring the Laguiole back!

Not to take light away from N N10siveRN ‘s awesome blade reworking, but as the thread has bounced a bit, I have to throw this in:

The Hungarian is possibly the most underrated Spyderco ever. I can’t believe I was asleep at the helm when these were on discontinuation closeout. I’m happy I subsequently found one. I’m on the lookout for another.

I may sell this one once I’m done. Haven’t decided yet. I do agree that they are very underrated.

It is a very classy and original knife for sure. Somehow, this thread made me think of how cool it would be if someone made an automatic conversion of this knife. (probably reminded me of the Vallotton)

Black blades matter

You sir, have very good taste.
Someday the second blade down shall also be mine.

Nicely done!

Now do tell:
The bolsters look stippled and colored. How’d you do it?

Blade Cerakote, or something else?

It came out very individualized—& I mean that in a good way! The bolsters look a little more wear resistant than mirror polish. ;)

ETA: I’m glad you left the polished G-10 as is. The way Spyderco polishes their G-10 is fantastic.

The blade and some of the hardware is Cerakoted black. The rest is Cerakoted black with a second coating of high gloss clear Cerakote with Gun Candy added to it. The Gun Candy gives it the chameleon characteristics.

I'm sure we're the same on this when it comes to mods.... doesn't matter. You did a great job.

I don’t think highly of Spyderco’s warranty to begin with so it was a sarcastic joke. Thank you for the compliments. I have a few hours into it and I think it’s an improvement over the stock form. Purists will hate it. I don’t care.
