I have recently bought a CS Bushman and I was wondering what mods you guys have done to yours. I looked a little but didn't find much so sorry if I am redoing a thread. If you guys have pictures that would be awesome.

I wrapped the handle with baseball bat leather self-stick stuff, made a paracord braid, and got a Kydex sheath from Normark. I have an M16 2x magazine pouch zip tied in place tha holds a nice wad of survival goodies-- a mini roll of duct tape, firesteel, whistle, compass, and an LED microlight. I usually carry it in my pack rather than on my belt.

Now that you have a knife that will work like a spear, get yourself a little frog spear to use with the same stick. All you need to add is a leather loincloth and attitude :D

This kinda Bushman? Is this what you mean, Dale?

I turned mine into this:

And no, I will not send it to Normark, I trust him, but not enough.

Some one here made it into a Nessie recently. Someone else has wrapped the handle with heat shrink tubing. And Normark has made many sheaths for them.

two words... plasti dip.

just dip the sucker in that stuff and u have urself rubber handles usually with a florescent color.

also normark sheaths kick ass for bushmans

cheers

Are you serious about this plasti dip stuff? That sounds like great stuff.

I ground a nice little choil in mine and it really helped how the blade feels while doing close-up work.

Here's my CT modified Cold Steel Bushman. Still a tough as nails knife, and it has handled every job I needed it to do. I designed the blade profile, and another BF poster helped me out with the machining. Below it is my Buck 110 for comparrison.

The edge is just under 4", ANY WAY you measure it.

ya i'm serious.

plasti-dip also goes by the name of "rubber tool dip"

should be able to find it at your local hardware stores.

comes in yellow and red i believe.

just dip in the handle of the bushman then let the stuff harden

feels just like the rubber grip on tools.

give it a try i'm sure u wont be disappointed.

cheers

Good tip jca21! I like that idea and will definitely try that out sometime!

I haven't done much to my Bushman. Reprofiled the edge, wrapped teh handle with a strip of bicycle innertube, and made a kydex sheath for it.

Others have done some neat mods that I'd like to try. Someday I'll acquire a few more Bushaman knives for tweaking. I'd like to play with the bowie pattern.

 ...Thanks, Bro'. Gotta try it right away.

good luck with it guys..

once i get my camera back from the girlfriend i'll try and post a few pics of my bushman

hope the plasti-dip mod goes well for you guys.

also for those of us who do not own custom kydex sheaths for the bushman..

GET ONE ASAP!!!!

they are really nice i got mine from normark (eric) from on scene tactical.

cheers

p.s. not wanting to hijack the thread but i've also done this to my fiskars hatchet because it tends to get slippery when it gets wet or rains. works great on other stuff too..

cheers

The two CS Bushmen I got on sale last Christmas (2 for $30!) are still box stock and they suit me OK like they are. But for a knife to modify, the Bushman seems to be an excellent candidate. The sheath, though, while acceptable, is sure nothing to write home about. Approximately what does one of those Kydex sheaths cost and is there a website you can list? Thanks, and remember the KISS principle.
