Moding a Bushman

Well, make sure you keep this model well oiled-- don't want any surface ummmm corrosion.....

Well, I wouldn't mind if a little patina develops.

Ok, I won't put any more chicks pics in this thread.:o

The two CS Bushmen I got on sale last Christmas (2 for $30!) are still box stock and they suit me OK like they are. But for a knife to modify, the Bushman seems to be an excellent candidate. The sheath, though, while acceptable, is sure nothing to write home about. Approximately what does one of those Kydex sheaths cost and is there a website you can list? Thanks, and remember the KISS principle.

PM Normark and he will hook you right up, his company is On Scene Tactical and I have heard nothing but great things. It won't be long until one of my Old Timers is sporting some kydex made by Normark. Chris

Is there really all that much difference from the bowie version. From what I see it looks heavier and might be able to chop better.

Ya My pic do suck. I'm learning. Of all the crafts I do, the PC and digital widget's, electronics in general make my head hurt. 6 months ago I still typed with one finger and didn't know how to turn a PC on.

Here are some pics of my Choiled Bushman and the sheath I made.

I have been thinking of putting the handle in my vise and crushing it oval so it wouldn't rotate in the hand. I do this to all my slag hammers at work, so I thought I might try it on the Bushman.

I see that the Bushman now comes in SK-5 steel, but used to be available in Carbon-V steel. Does anyone have a performance comparison between Bushmen of the different steel types?

Thanks,

-John

old thread bump :) just for saying nice infos i got here and kudos to everyone contributing :D

ya i'm serious.

plasti-dip also goes by the name of "rubber tool dip"

should be able to find it at your local hardware stores.

comes in yellow and red i believe.

just dip in the handle of the bushman then let the stuff harden

feels just like the rubber grip on tools.

give it a try i'm sure u wont be disappointed.

cheers

He is correct

I have it on my Bushman

It is an excellent idea to try

not only are the florescent colors awesome for survival knives.

once the handle gets dirty/sooty/beat up/cracked/etc

you can just peel off the old stuff and dip once again!

:D
