Mohawk Hunter, An American Bushcraft Knife

I broke some cardinal rules of fire starting by placing my tinder on wet leaves and using wet fuel off of the ground, as you can see by the steam, but fatwood saves a lot of work when you just want or need to FileZilla https://downloader.vip/malwarebytes/https://downloader.vip/rufus/ Rufusget a fire going... and I had a lot of debris to clean up out of my yard so the little one could run and play without tripping over a LOT of limbs.

The knife was really no worse for the wear and abuse. I love how micarta is so durable and cleans up so easily just being washed in a pool of rain water.

I was right, I do really like this one a lot. It is a great size, it gives me the controllability I like along with the strength I prefer to have in my field knives. It handles well and so far my only problem with it is that I don't care for belt clips or high-riding knives when I am carrying a pack with a waist belt, so I'll likely make a webbing drop system for it.
I've done a little whittling and notching with it and i like how it handles.

I wrote this 8 years ago, and have since gotten a little spoiled by a lot of knives with at least somewhat better ergonomics. But overall the Mohawk Hunter still remains my favorite knife in the TOPS Knives lineup. It has all the function I like in a field knife and none of the unnecessary stuff I don't want, and is a great size for general field utility. With better ergos, or even modded ones, it would rank even higher on my list of all time favorite knives than it does.

Standing the test of time is the ultimate measure. The TOPS BOB seems more popular but still prefer the Mohawk.

Yes for my uses and what I like to have available to me for various different reasons in the field in the middle of nowhere, I very much prefer the Mohawk Hunter over the Bob, or the Tex Creek, or even Dave's HOG even if the HOG does have much better ergonomics and is probably the most well thought out knife in the TOPS line. I still prefer the MH blade geometry, and geometry in general for personal reasons.
