moisture meter

Hi just pick up a moisture meter today to read some wood for knife sacles its the pronged type but the instructions are rather vauge are you supposed to stick the prongs in the wood all the way any help would be great thanks.

It is just a conductivity meter, they only need to be inserted a little, remember that the wood may be more moist toward the middle.
