Moki Knives - Am I Missing Something?

I have an Al Mar Shrike that was manufactured by Moki, and am fairly certain they manufacture a good number of Al Mars. The Shrike is a very well made knife, extremely smooth action, solid lock-up, the blade flies open with just a nudge on the stud. Great finish on the vg-10 blade, takes a screaming sharp edge. I would add a ditto to the comments above concerning Moki- you aren't missing anything, they just don't seem to get a lot of attention.

It is exactly this type of company that I like to find. A great product that is missing the hype. To me it gives the product character. Like pre 1991 Boston Whaler boats, or the BMW GS motorcycle.

Yep, advertisment is for a large part what allow the maker to increase the price.

Little advertisment means lower price. And that doesn't affect quality at all.
Those great little-known makers are a great opportunity for knife enthusiast.

Very good quality. Not under rated at all. In fact they are highly respected. They have been around for a long time. AG has been selling Moki made knives for years They have also been advertising in Blade for years. Perhaps you just weren't paying attention-Haa! How does the Moki WH compare to the other WH Knives? MIke

Mike,
The Moki WH I have is a lock back. It's well made and has a pocket clip. It's not as fine a knife as the ones made by WH but it was allot less expensive too.

The Moki Knife company is in its 4th generation with the 5th generation already working in the shop. It used to be called the Sakurai knife company, but the late Moki Sakurai became so well known that the company was known in Japan as "Moki's knives", so they changed the name to Moki Knife company.

Currently run by Moki san's son Satoru Sakurai.

Quality is excellent.

They make knives for a number of companies including Spyderco.

I would suggest that if you have an opportunity to purchase a Moki knife, that you take it.
