Moku-Ti and Black out Damascus

Nice knife Les. I like the machined curves in the handle. Everything (materials and design) goes together very nicely.

I see no reason to criticize Chad Nichols' work as not "groundbreaking." After all, he did make the titanium mokume -which is something not all damascus steel makers have tried!

THanks guys, Your right about the titanium Mokume and there was that stellite san mai that he made.... ;)

For a guy who gargles every morning with Tritonal, you make a a damn fine looking knife. Don't care who made the "mascus".

Don't care if it is an original "mascus" pattern or not cause "ground-breaking" is for mules or somebody with a dang big tractor. If the mule breaks a new ground plot today, odds are that if he breaks ground tomorrow, the plow marks wont line up exactly.;)

See ya at Blade.

Robert

Tritonal is only for special mornings....

That is one of the funniest hings I have heard all day, Robert. The mule team stuff... See you at Blade! :)

Moku-Ti? Hmmm - I know there is a patent out there, and I know the name'S that are on it. I am wondering how this material is being made to bypass a patent.

Hi Bill, maybe you missed this part of Les's post:

Chad has been workin on this for while and he spoke to Chuck Bybee at Alpha Knife Supply to make sure there was no infringing on their Timascus patent and he (Chuck) assured him that he was not.

Les-

I really dig your work. Is that annodized or heat colored? How is it to machine?

For those of you who feel that it is ok to derail Mr. George's thread towards your own agenda, just stop it. This is not a thread about Chad Nichols or any IP infractions he may not or may have committed. IMO

I know its not easy just loveing a guy that is popular with everyone no matter what he does. But Chad Nichols really is an awsome dude. He sent me a christmas present of spider web bolsters after only knowing him a month or two. real awsome stand up guy. If you were to speak with him you would relize.

Les, that is one gorgeous knife!!!

I Agree TKC

Chad's Moku-Ti has proven to be one of if not the most amazing new materials out there in the last year. Extremely versitile, tough and reliable yet elegant.

Lovely knife! I definitely do like that Moku-Ti, and also the M390/Damascus san mai that he and Darrel Ralph did. That stuff makes for some gorgeous knives, and strikes me as being pretty ground-breaking. But then, I'm no expert. For all I know it's been done to death before.

But the OP is definitely a nice knife, regardless of how unique the patterning is. Maybe some day I'll be educated enough to appreciate the differences in patterns and know who made the steel by the way it looks.
