My daughter is getting into engraving and jewelry making. She asked about Mokume and figured I'd check into it and see how hard it is to make. Are there any tutorials or other helpful information on it available?
I don't plan on using it on knives. Tried it once and it looked terrible after I bead blasted it. :)
Thanks

Check out Steve Midgett's site at http://www.mokume.com

I bought his book and it is absolutely beautiful. It has a couple different processes for making Mokume. Plus his work is outstanding. His work is mainly geared toward jewelry.

Edited to add: I was just thinking that I have a little piece of copper and nickel silver mokume left over from my first try at mokume. It has a star twist in it, and the colors would look like this:

My Mokume

It is about .75 x 1.5 x 3/16. Your daughter is more than welcome to it if she wants it for practice or what ever. Just shoot me an email and I will send it to you.

were you using alternating copper and brass? if so, why bead blasting? hand-sanding aught to do, followed by a quick shine using metal polish.
