If I'm sandwiching a blade between two pieces and pinning, do you guy's also solder, or are the pins enough? Any tricks?

Dave

Mokume , as in bolster ? Like scales the pins hold it but you can seal the joint with epoxy or if mokume use solder .

I wouldn't expect bolsters on a smallish knife to take much stress, so you might be able to get by with solder alone, since pins might mess up the look of the pattern.

Placing the pins in an appropriate yellow or white (brass or nickel) area on the mokume will make a near invisible rivet.Soldering is always a good thing.

or hidden pins too, dont drill all the way through when you start the holes from the side that is facing the tang.:D

The pins are fine to hold the bolsters on, but you want to seal them against incipient moisture. a drop of superglue works fine.
