Mom-in-Law Gets Robbed and I'm having a Ball!

Yes, the 642 is my primary carry gun (in a pocket.) I'm hoping she can handle it, and that she's willing to carry something this big. Also, it's not an easy gun to shoot. She likes the way it feels in her hand, and she does NOT like holding the tiny .380s that are available. Hopefully we'll know next week. (The LGS did have a few airweights and I saw at least one 642.)

I don't know if you have tried the 642 with the Crimson Trace laser grip. It's much more comfortable (for me) to shoot than with the stock grips.

I have not. If I knew someone who had them, or somewhere that sold them, I'd like to give them a try.

My current grips aren't stock. I can't remember the make or model of the grips, but it really doesn't matter since I modded them so much. They are rubber-ish, allow me to get all my fingers on the grip (but no longer than needed.) I shaped them with a knife grinder so that they fit my hand perfectly. They also fit my pants pocket. They're not so pretty, but they feel great while allowing a good grip with lots of control.

Get your mom in law a German Shepherd Dog and get them both trained out the wazoo. I've had sheps all my life. Nobody comes near our house. Ever.

I mentioned in an earlier post that mom-in-law picked up a S&W 4" .38 revolver just a couple days after her burglary. Yesterday, the weather was nice enough for her to finally try it. She handled +P ammo just fine. She also shot my 642 with wadcutters and was also okay with the recoil. This morning she applied for her carry permit. Then she went and got a Ruger LCR in .38 and another LCR in .22. The S&W will be loaded with Critical Defense +P. The LCR with Critical Defense (standard pressure) and the .22 is for cheap and frequent practice. She's going to put a little shooting range in her back yard! I have a new shooting buddy—and it's my mother-in-law! :)
