Monarch Out And About

I made the statement today in the office as Ken and I were going through the Friday thread and looking at this weeks batch ...."I need a monarch now" this thread further reinforces that
Thanks mist

Ah cool, glad I could help you confirm that Philip :)

Thanks for the great write up and insights, Mist.
Regarding the shot that shows the taper from the butt end … man, that taper coming down to almost exactly the same width as the white liners looks really sweet … that aesthetic "balance" just rings an almost audible chime for me.
Beautiful work. Great review.

Thanks Edge, glad you enjoyed the post. Yeah, I really like the aesthetic balance that brings to the pommel end of the knife myself.

Hey Brian, those are great. Love those night shots!

Thanks Kris! The woods get a bit boring to me here in the winter time with the absence of color, so I like to seek out the colored lights of the city at night and see what I can do with them in photos. It is something I sort of fell in love with about eight years ago, and it helps me pass the winter, or times when I spend days not being able to get to the woods due to work during the day in the warmer months Lol, I have an entire album devoted to that subject on my fb page :)

Cool, diverse shots. The Monarch is one I have not had a chance to try yet so it is always good to hear other's impressions on the knife.

I am starving now thanks to those last couple of pictures

Yeah, I thought from handling a couple of them at the shop that I would like it in an edc role. I was right as for me. Yeah, that was a really good steak :)

I totally agree with Caleb. Your write-ups always have me adding to the want list. Brian, you and your amazing work are greatly appreciated, keep it coming, my friend!

Nice shots!

I need a new camera :)

Thank you! Yeah, this one is almost three years old now, I'll need a new one soon...

Thanks man! Yeah, I found that I enjoy playing around with the light box and I have always liked playing with tight in macro shots, but I think it takes looking at a knife from several different angles, and in possible common settings and environments to know more about how you feel about any knife. I am a knife nut, and because of my work I spend a great deal of my time out and about with a camera in my hand. Sometimes it takes me a bit to compile and upload, but for the most part it is easy to do with these awesome knives what Andy and crew would never have the time to do with them. So for me, showing them off is an easily done, fun labor of love.

Mainly it has ever been about exploring an artistic avenue. The woods are rather boring to photograph here during the winter unless there is ice or snow, and I have been asked to produce some urban art by a friend of mine so I go out at night and shoot photos of the city and the lights, partly as recreation and partly as a professional endeavor.

Cool. For some reason, I got it in my head that you were probably a crime scene photog. It was probably because I was finishing up the Serial podcast, which turns everyone into a detective. I figured it was that or something like this.

He is meeting up with Batman so they can compare utility belts. ;)

Phil

Now I feel like a thread is need to discuss and debate which Fiddleback a fictional character would carry. We could start with Batman, maybe move through some Shakespearean characters, or some TV characters like the cast of Lost or Breaking Bad. I mean the possibilities could be endless. Plus I want to photoshop a Bat symbol pin out on to an Asp now.

Nope, the closest I get to that is photographing whatever they leave behind afterward, but being out there at night photographing the city, if you are quiet enough, and blend in well enough with the landscape, you can see a lot of things that would otherwise go unnoticed.

Brian, As unusual, your pictures are fantastic! Thanks for all the time you invest in sharing with us!
