Money back from Buck

A payoff to the lawyers to get them to bother someone else.
Consumers will get very little.
A bogus claim in any case. Cars that have a certain percentage made here, can legally make that claim. The knives themselves were made here, just not the sheath.

And imo there isn’t a darn thing wrong with them.
I agree, but you know how some folks get about “Made in USA”. For me the knife is what matters, but everyone has different levels of importance and expectations.

What next? Boxes printed in China and lawsuits to follow that?

Plaintiff's counsel on a class action gets a fee in the range of 25% to 33%. So figure the law firm representing the class will get between $50k-$66k on this settlement. Once you factor in the man hours to meet with clients, follow up calls, calls with opposing counsel, legal research, going through box after box of documentation in discovery, drafting and submitting relevant court motions, consultations with outside counsel, etc... they might be breaking even. This is hardly a win for the law firm that brought the case.

"We can call them “Darren” if they’re male."
"I thought they were called “Kyle’s” ?"

I prefer to call them "*****".
Case filed in **********? Figures.

edit: Sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone

Interesting to see wether we’ll see Mexican flag in the box or just no flags at all in the future 🤔

True, and I suspect they were going for much more when it started or else this was a short term project. They likely got a relatively quick settlement offer or felt this was the best risk/reward ratio available.
Just look at the actual reason this was filed and tell me this was such an offense to humanity that the plaintiff and counsel felt a need to right this injustice.
I'm all against bogus goods being misrepresented but how far do you take this concept? Was the thread used to sew the sheath made here? The dye for the leather, metal for the rivets, or some other insignificant part?
As I mentioned, an automobile has to have 75% to call it US made although parts from Canada are slipped in as US made in the formula.
This was clearly a dialing for dollars type claim. The fact they didn't get as much as they would have liked doesn't change their original motivation.

I may be wrong on this, but I've Never considered the sheath as part of the knife. It is an accessory, separate item.

AFAIK the Buck packaging always had "imported sheath" printed somewhere.

Here' a box from a 2021 production 112, but I've seen it printed on older packaging as well.
I guess the issue is using the "made in the USA" logo

For me there's nothing misleading going on here.

The sheaths are made in Mexico , considered by some nowadays as America’s most Southern State.
