Money on the counter

That must not have the same meaning in the Irish slang lexicon, I've always figured. Or, equally likely, they may have known exactly what they were doing! :D

Now, if i had said "I'm going down to the corner for a nip of the Black Bush," that would definitely have a different meaning, considering where i live! ;)

C'mon, IG, bring it on! HEHEHE

Stacy, sorry to swipe your thread...:o

An Irishman and a Scotsman were in the pub and discussing (read arguing) the merits of Irish vs Scots whiskey. The Scotsman said he could prove that Scotch was better. He said ,"I had my neighbors over last Saturday and gave them a wee dram of good Scotch, and the next morning we made it to mass together. The Irishman seemed puzzled as to how that mattered and replied," My neighbors come over every Saturday and we drink a whole bottle of Irish Whiskey. We all get up and go to mass the next morning?" To this the Scott replied," Aye,that may be so,but are your neighbors Jewish?"

Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.
