Money to spend at CRKT

So many better knives for that money than crkt. Avoid that brand if you want a good knife. Too bad it's a credit.

^I've seen this a number of times. :( I must be super lucky. I have at least 10 CRKT knives (e.g. Ripple 1&2, original Desert Cruiser, Swindle, Offbeat, Eros, Remedy and others) and every one was at or well above expectations. They were/are all well centered, smooth actions, quite sharp, no blade play and very useful and enjoyable. I completely disagree with the anti CRKT sentiment I see around here with some frequency.

For 130 you can get so many better knives though with better materials and fit and finish. Your paying alot for so little.
At 80 the Delica from spyderco blows away nearly everything crkt makes. For 135 the pm2 is also far superior to anything crkt makes. And that's just two examples of 100s of knifes.

I agree, IF one (as is the case with the OP) must purchase from the CRKT site at MSRP. :( The going price elsewhere is significantly less and puts them in a much more affordable category.

I carried CRKT through most of my military career. They offer some nice designs but, steel and heat treatment are almost always lacking. Especially for the price.

Shifting production to China has not helped any.

If they would just offer a better heat treatment, I would consider owning more than the two I have.

I’m th OP. I made my decision and placed the order. I would have chosen the special Pilar, but I couldn’t get it from CRKT direct. Then my next choice was a tan M21-12, but that was discontinued. Oh well. I ended up with these two:
NO TIME OFF™ WITH VEFF FLAT TOP SERRATIONS®
SKU: 5351

FOSSIL™ BLACK WITH VEFF SERRATIONS™
SKU: 5473

Thanks everybody.

I now have a question about a good quality low cost, non assisted knige for my 10yr old. I’ll search first, and post a new thread if I can’t find a similar discussion.
