Money to Spend, What to Buy?

Right now I've got $150 that I would like to use to purchase a new Spyderco for myself. I've picked several ones, including: the new Street Beat, a Centofante II, a Massad Ayoob (a serrated one, of course), or a large Calypso. Any help in narrowing down my choices is really appreciated, so thanks a bunch. Stay safe, God bless America.

Of the few that you're picking from, I'd go with the Street Beat. Personally, I'd go with a CF BG42 Military with your budget, it's just a little more than the $150 though.

If you could scare up another ten bucks, you could get a BGCF Military from New Graham. It's a great buy on a great knife.

Of the ones you have listed, I think availability will probably tell you which to buy, unless you have better sources than I do. I do have a Centofante II, and it is a very nice unit. Of course, I'm still kind of partial to ATS-34 ;)

Availability is not an issue at this time; I've found all of these knives for sale at either local gunshops or from small internet stores that regularly update their "in stock/out of stock/on back order" indicators and have sent emails their way---they have them all. Thanks for the help. GBA.

If you decide not to snag that large Calypso and it is PE, shoot me a PM with its whereabouts :D

The Street Beat is current production and should be available for a while, the Ayoob may be in line for a sprint run (we keep lobbying for it) and seems a bit easier to find, but that Calypso seems to be scarcer than the Cento II. I'd go for that one, myself.

The full size Calypso is rarest of those listed by the OP. Some people think it is the best thing next to sliced bread. I think it is "OK", but not worth salivating over.

The Centofante II in SE can be found for a bit over $100 pretty easy.

Out of the list, I think the Street Beat is the most well made. The micarta is hand fit. ;)

Like all forum people, I believe my choice is the best choice :D .

How about a Carbon Fiber (collector alert!) ZPD steel (Wow!) Caly III (Best EDC Spyderco made?).

Right at your budget the only downer is that it's a presale with a "Expected Date: 03/31/2007" (sadness). Don't mind the picture it will have the carbon fiber look found on other Carbon Fiber models, they just have a regular Caly 3 picture.

Do it!
