Money

All my money as a kid came from mowing lawns, with the exception of a painted deck or fence. Like everyone else has said, get the word out that you're looking to make money and jobs will present themselves. Start with family and neighbors, maybe post a flyer here and there. Once people know you're a hard worker, word gets around. I work in a butcher shop now and just yesterday I stacked wood for a good customer. $100 and I was done by noon. Of course, I feel bad taking that much from her and her kindness will be repaid.

Alot of times i would do yard work around where i lived or helped my dad with homes. He did remodeling most of the time and helped him with what i could

I delivered papers and mowed lawns. It was the 1970's and I was able to get the entire current Buck lineup. Even sent a letter to Al Buck asking where I could buy a store display case.....He sent me one for free with a really nice letter. Then around 1979 I got into punk in Los Angeles, did drugs, and sold all but a few of the Bucks. :D I also had many Case knives.

Cutting grass, paper route, KMart, McDonalds, Wal Mart, worked in a meat packing plant, washed a few entire warehouses full of tires when one of them burned down - horrible job - I spent the whole day ass deep in a horsetank full of soapy water covered in stinking burnt tire residue, and even did a little wheelin' and dealin' of motorcycles and guns.

Is there detassling in your area? I made upwards of 2000 dollars a summer in high school. I did volunteer, derouging, and the detassling though and that takes up just about your whole summer. Make sure to go out with friends if you do. The nature of the job is honestly pure hell but with company, it becomes bearable.:D

Sorry what's detassling?

Walking up and down rows of corn all day pulling the tassels (reproductive thingy for corn) out of the female corn plants. Since you haven't heard of it then its probably not available. I would think it would be in Minnesota though, you guys got corn right:confused:. Ask some adults if they've ever done it.

Yeah we have lots of corn and the farm across my street is growing it this year!

Depends what you mean by kid. When I was little I wasn't allowed to have knives. A couple years ago before my sophomore year of college I got into knives again and had some money from working at a hobby shop for years. Then I got an engineering internship that paid more than double and I got reaally into it!

I just mean when you first got into knives and your parents allowed them, like they let me have one small full Sak but that only came with hunting fishing and camping, then it started when I found a machete in my shed and that's what lead me into tomahawks and knives

I tossed papers for a living. Of course, my Dad ran our small town newspaper, so I was going to be throwing paper routes whether I liked it or not. But he was good Dad and rewarded my hard work. My first real knife was an old Camillus Boy Scout knife given to me by my Grandad. My first Big Boy knife I purchased with my own money was a Buck 110.

I had a few no-name pocket knives as a kid and one Camillus scout knife when I was in Cubs. I didn't start really getting serious about knives again till my late 20's. That said, I did have a paper route for a long time as a kid (Sundays SUCKED!:D). It seems paper routes are now mostly done by adults in cars (at least here in the Phoenix area). :(
