Yes, I've seen these before. It's really a copy of a Arabian Jambaya dagger made in India by the same people who make the infamous 'lion's head' "kukris". I saw one in a knife store once, and it left little bits of chrome plating on my hands!:barf: They're not worth the metal they're made of - and they have nothing to do with Mongolia.

ya, I wasn't even interested in this one--even the photo makes it look awful--just curious if there even was such a thing as a 'mongolian' dagger.

I'm sure there probably is some kind of traditional Mongolian dagger or knife, but I've never seen one.

Yes, there are authentic Mongolian daggers, but that poor excuse for a letter opener ain't one of 'em

I do believe that H.I. put out one something similar once before my time.
Uncle Bill will of course know what it is if I am remembering correctly.
H.I. has done a couple of other different knife designs from that part of the world that aren't khukuris.
The Khanjarlis for one that I do remember and if H.I. brings out the particular model I'm lusting after this year you can bet your sweet bippy I'm getting one!!!!!!!!!
Maybe Rusty or Berk will recall what the other knife I'm thinking about was.
Kinda seems like it had something to do with tigers?

It is a Baghmarne - a knife that Uncle Bill said specially made for the purpose of killing a tiger! Anyhow Uncle Bill did advice not to try it on purpose! I guess it will be usefull for skinning a dead tiger & not the live one! There is a picture of it in HI Khukuri FAQ.

The kamis who made the "Tiger Killer" advised that if one wanted to kill a tiger with a knife he would be better served using a good sized khukuri.
