All that great technology and they still carried knives...ya gotta love that!

No, not related by blood, but I like to think of him as a kindred spirit.
You'll fit right in, JS.

;)

LOL, Excellent find!

An excuse to visit Mongolia I guess.

The bit about the tent is pretty funny.

First pic looks like a lamprey.

...Sausage-like worm over half a metre (20 inches) long, and thick as a man’s arm, resembling the intestine of cattle. Its tail is short, as [if] it were cut off, but not tapered. It is difficult to tell its head from its tail because it has no visible eyes, nostrils or mouth...

Guess nobody told the local eyewitness who made the carving about the eyes and mouth.

There is a family of legless lizards, some of which burrow. When disturbed many lose their tails. A few of the burrowers are even blind. One sighted species found in europe has been recorded to four feet long.

Though not closely related, gila monsters are venomous lizards. The Komodo dragons bite is toxic due to a virile population of nasty bacteria which don't seem to affect the owner--talk about halitosis.

Worm-like reptile instead of worm seems more plausible.

The evil-eye thing, well that I will err... take pass on.

After Dune I read Dune Messiah and Children of Dune and really enjoyed all of those, Messiah was my favorite. I dont usually like science fiction though and I lost interest with God Emperor of Dune when Leto turned into a sandworm with human legs who was wheeled around on a cart and crushed people under his own weight. I think I will go back and give it a second look if you all recomend it.

A v P:

Pretty funny eh? They are starting to push it on the box, at least on FOX.

Wonder if it will be OK, bad, or bad-enough-to-be-good.

I see potential for the last, kinda like Godzilla vs Mothra.

Check out the heiroglyphic panels in the conceptual art section of the site, LOL.

Sometimes I think they have bunches of tiles with things like, "Alien", "Predator", other expensive props/sets from previous movies, Anarctica, Pyramid, Jungle, Space, other locations, etc written on them, and they just draw some out of a couple of big hats, then work from there.

Movies are getting worse and worse because they can. The people who make them know they can just add special effects in with a computer, shamelessly plug products, them slap a big name star in the cast and make millions of dollars. Kinda makes me think about going into the movie business... :) But im sure karma would catch up eventually.

DUNE!!

Frank Herberts Dune series is one of my favorites. But I stopped reading at "God Emperor of Dune" because it started getting really weird.

Me too! Have you read the three new novels by Herbert's son. They are precuels to the original Dune series and pretty good reads.
