Monkey Fist?

I've heard it mentioned a couple of times as a knot on the lanyard used to help pull the knife out of the pocket. What sort of knot is it and does anybody have a picture of it?

Or does it involve lots of monkeys and some exoteric martial arts discipline?

Thanks

Used as a weight to help chuck a line to someone..easy to make but I reckon too bulky for a "fob"

Excellent, just what i was looking for. Thanks much, folks

I had an in-law who made keychains and such out of the Monkey Fist pattern. Carried one around for a few years, and got lots of comments. I have a couple, but now that summer is coming around, I won't be carrying my big load of keys around as much. I'm sure if you used a small enough rope or twine, or whatever, it could be just the right size. Mine is 1/4 inch nylon braided rope, and it made a little over 1 inch cube.

The links you guys posted on this were GREAT. So were your suggestions. I sometimes use an old golf ball as the 'core' to my bigger ones. Small cedar spheres(balls) also work well for key chain models w/ smaller nylon 'rope', 1/8 inch + or -. This does not add much weight.

My current edc is an LCC, which is tip up deep pocket carry.

I tried the hangmans and various other knots, but finally decided on loop lanyard. It's easier for me to slip my fingers in the loop than it is to pinch a knot. YMMV.
