Monoculars!! (careful slow connections, lots of pics)

If you see a double image that means one of the optics is misaligned. I've often found that's because the bezel that holds one of the objective lenses has loosened a little and all it needs is tightening. It's also possible for a prism to get knocked out of alignment by a drop, especially with cheap binoculars. It's not a tolerable condition -- get it fixed!

I think it couls also be related to inexpensive binocs. I've had these for years and I think thats the was they always were.
So are you saying that under normal conditions, binocs should only have one field of view ? i.e. if I'm looking at a deer, I only see one.

thanks again for the responses everyone. sidewinder, it's helpful to know that the minox has a wider field of view, and everyone says it's excellent optics because it's made by leica. i've been leaning more and more towards it. the only thing that pulls me towards the zeiss is that it fits in your pocket easy. i could get it around here for cheap and get it immediately but they don't have the belt sheath. i was thinking maybe a pen case would work, a double one would let you carry it and a fountain pen. well i'm going to look at it soon so i'll tell you guys what i think. i'm leaning more and more towards the minox though

Back to the Miniquick, where is a good place to get one, and what is a good price.

this place seems to have a good price and looks good in general. 5 dollar shipping aint bad either. if someone has a better price or place i'd like to hear it though.

Personally, I am hoping you get the Minox because I want the review. :D
But I think the Zeiss is fully fogproof and waterproof, if that makes a difference to you. The Minox isn't.

Focus Camera has refurbished Minox 6x16s for $50.

damn, that kinda sucks, still, i don't intend to be using it out in the hail or snow or anything anyways. plus the minox is metal so it should be sturdier. $50 dollars is a nice price but i'd really rather get a new one. well i'm planning on going to look at it before long so that'll probably make up my mind. i do think it's a lot cooler though. and you can't go wrong with leica optics. bigger field of view lets in more light. the more i think about it the more i'm leaning towards the minox. plus it comes with a case and neck strap. so.... 6x or 8x? i assume by the lack of responses that no one has had any problems with the monocular shaking and making it hard to keep on the object being viewed? that's my only worry about the 8x. one other thing, do people find that they use the mini-quick as a magnifyer often? is it really helpful in that regard? how about if you have good eyesight to begin with, does it really make things easier to see? please let me know. thanks everyone. and johnniet, i'll be sure to give a review once i go look at it whether or not i buy it.

Based on this thread, I did some checking around. Found one of the Minox 6x16 refurbs on Ebay from a reputable seller . . . just won it for $22.58!! So, after I get it in, I'll try to post some impressions. Shoot . . . for that price its GOTTA be worth it!!

Along the same lines...it hasn't arrived yet, but I just got one of these 8x18 mini-binoculars on ebay. The going price seems to be about $28 (shipping is $8, so $36 altogether).
I'll post a review after I get it.

Well the Ebay seller "forgot" to ship my refurb Minox monocular but after several emails I finally got it!
I gotta say that this is a VERY clear piece o glass! The optics are razor sharp and this would easily fit in a pocket and the slide focus is a breeze. The only weak spots seem to be how the rubber eyering is situated and the poor excuse for a case. But . . . I did not buy them for the case!;) This would be an excellent addition to anyone's gear and I highly recommend them!
