Monster Chopper

The info on the reason for not making/marketing the knife no more is not on the website anymore.

See, now you just need to get a hold of Dave at Great Lakes Waterjet and have some blanks cut out for production! ;)

Sounds good to me...now, are there any wealthy investors out there? I'm game.
I like the angle of the handle in relation to the blade on the OP's video alot, I might tweaking the drawing a bit.

This is something I drew up a while ago, what do you think?

Wow, really great drawing. I agree with dropping the heel of the handle a bit. I think it will aid in chopping. I have a similar size knife I have been toying with, but it is more Thai e-nap shaped.

Nice piece. Is the handle out of horn? I have always wondered how durable it woud be. Like the shape. You could relax your grip while using with that handle design.

Yeah the handle is horn...I've had my HI Khuk really take a beating with its horn handle and any cracks can be filled in with super glue.

I HAVE to get one of those Valiants, I've been reading about them for years with positive comments most of the time. Are they full tang?

I was initially concerned about the tang as well, but it looks pretty stout going into the handle. I haven't seen any x-rayed handles, but I've done a lot of beating on hard wood with my golok and I've had no issues. I'm hoping to get the parang out for some chopping this coming weekend. I really only thing time will tell.

That's outstanding...we need to commission this as the WSS Parang:D:thumbup:

Sorry, did not mean to offend nor was it my thoughts, I watched a You tube vid of Mr Wiseman and he was making the comments, why he made them I don't know but I remember watching it. I would hope that the knife he designed could be produced and I stated that.

I have a KA-bar cutlass machete and it is a lot like this thing of Cris'. I find it way cool as a chopper and wonder why you don't hear about it much.
sparrowfart.

Absolutely no offense taken, I've heard that's what the company said but in law and in practicality it's not true.

sparrowfart, I too have the KA-BAR Cutlass and for the money it's a beast!

I once trade a knife with a British fellow in this forum and he told me exactly that, looks like the press in the US is overstating the knife laws in the UK.

Parang is not my cup of tea, but it easy to see possible advantages of this design.

Twack bat? I'll be stealing that one.
