Forged 5160 with convex grind, maple scales with stainless pins and thong tube. This is a big heavy piece. It is .262 thick at the handle tapering to aprox 1/8" at the tip.Blade is aprox 2-3/16" wide at the tip.I started the grind high so you can hold the blade at a balanced point for fine work.I refinished it after the testing session but it may have some small scratches. It is intended as a tool so I didn't waste my time and your money polishing out every small scratch.Price is SPF shipped or SPF with heavy leather sheath.Postal MO please.http://,http://'http://,http://,http://

Well done. While I'm not sure what to think of the ricasso, I love the flow and lines of the knife.

Yes, it is a bit of an experiment and may look different to some folks but it allows me to grip the blade and have excellent control to make a trigger stick or sharpen a pencil or do any fine work.Because it is such a large heavy blade it would be very difficult to grip the handle only for such work.

Also,my thanks to everyone for any comments.

Up for one time price drop.I realize some of you don't know me yet but if you are interested I can provide refrences. I will also offer a money back guarantee less shipping if after a few days you are not satisfied.Just let me know and we will discuss the details of the guarantee.

You could certainly chop a monster with that. How much does it weigh?

I don't have any way to accuratly weigh it.I would say a little more than 2 lbs. I have used it to cut small overhanging branches down my drive and I can use it pretty much like any machete but it is not something I would want to swing all day at small stuff.During a Zombie attack though, this is what I want in hand.

I'll talk to a friend that works at the local grocery store and see if I can get it weighed.

I might have missed it above, but what's the overall length and what kind of wood is in the handle?

I like this a lot BTW; very neat design.

Thanks for all the nice comments.

Iron'n'wood,it's about 22-1/2" overall and I'm 99% sure the handle is maple.I'm not 100% because it was a piece I got in trade. The handle is about 6-1/2" long so you can use a forward or rear grip and change the balance a little. In addition you could choke up on the blade and hold it just below the grind and do very fine work.
