Monster Lake Superior Trout

THEY LET IT GO?!? I guess I'm a selfish stinker. I would have kept it! What a fish!!

Have to say, if it were me, I would have eaten it! Great catch guys!

Awesome vid! Nice of them to let it go. That puppy is probably a good breeder and will make many more to catch in the future.

I knew trout and salmon were related, but that fish proves it! I thought it was cool that he put it back, especially after the effort it took to get it. I doubt they were going home hungry.

I would have measured and weighed it first before letting it go. Esav is probably right about them not going home hungry.:D

They did the right thing letting it go, that fish is no doubt a heavy breeder that would simply not make for a very good (or healthy) meal at that size.

I am almost more blown away that they were 20 miles off shore fishing, that is a long ride out! Not to mention the fact that virtually the entire Great Lakes had frozen over last winter, pure insanity……

Smaller fish taste better. I would have measured it before I let it go though.

Besides the size of that fish, I was impressed by the clarity of the ice, and the lighting that let us see what was happening below the ice. Maybe that is comon in ice fishing, but I thought it was pretty cool.

What a fish. Never really got into ice fishing. Never caught anything and its really cold.

It actually is common if you are fishing in an enclosure that blocks out most of the sun's light. There are quite a few factors that can ultimately decide how well you can see such as…. overcast vs. sunny, snow on the ice, water clarity, time of day, etc.

I did a good amount of ice fishing last winter and while the fish were rarely biting, it is truly a blast when you are fishing shallow (5-10 ft.) with good visibility and you can just watch them as though they were in a fish tank. I find it very relaxing…. :)

Excellent video!!

What a monster Trout, wow!!!!

I would have had a hard time letting it go!!!!!

If you weigh and measure a fish that size, it becomes a statistic.

If you just tell everyone about it and show an angled picture, it gets bigger as the years go by! :)
