Lake Superior is a sea in the true sense, with currents, tidal influences and produces its own weather. And yes there are some big ones. Take the marine forecast seriously before setting out.

Holy moly! Now THAT is a huge fish. Now I will be thinking of that fish when I swim in Lake Superior . . . LOL I am sure there are much bigger out there. . I don't want to know about them though
