That pic of that weird cricket that someone posted here creeped me out. But not enough to get down on my belly today and take some macro photography of a few small grasshoppers.

be warned there is lots of hi res pics, and a few "mating" pics. ;) best viewed on a OLD CRT monitor..i find the new flatscreen monitors lose the colors and sharpness....

sorry, these are really blurry, i was'nt using the tripod, just handheld the camera:

Cool shots! I love those grasshoppers, they're cool little fellas.

Not looking to offend or anything, just a pointer; some of that blur is more out of focus blur than camera shake blur. Looks like you may could have backed up the camera just a bit to have better range of focus maybe? For macro sometimes it can be easier to move the camera after locking focus, rather than constantly adjusting focus. What camera are you using?

everyone needs a little sexy time, haha.

Nices pics man, maco shots are nice, you ever tried taking pics of you knife edge's?

You are creeped out by grasshoppers having sex?

Man - you should have seen how bad it was when I caught my parents doing it:o

1 cm from the subject, full macro mode with additional digital zoom. continuous auto digital focusing with additonal image stabiliztion

FujiFilm S2000 Hi Def camera

my hands shake pretty bad, i have no issuies when i shoot with a tripod or camera resting opn sandbag/rubber/snadbag to dampen vibration. The S2000 does wicked sharp and focusd macro work when tripoded

Ah, cool. I've found that without digital zoom, you usually get far less pronounced camera shake. When posting to the web, you can generally crop in pretty tight with little consequence, too. ;)

I'm sorry, I'm being a pain I know. I quit posting on all those photography forums to make time to post here again. :D

Good shots, in any event.

no no, no pain at all, this is good! i'm thumbing theu the settings right now, i can turn off digital focusing.....next time ime out i'll shoot two sets , one with, one without....

this forum is great!

Great shots. I'm surprised they let you get that close.

When I was a kid it seems like every spring or summer we would be invaded by these black & yellow grasshoppers. Those things always freaked me out because there so darn many of them and they blended in so well with the grass and bushes.

Grasshopper porn..I think thats a new low for around here. :D

Are you talking about the picture of the walking stick deal in J's thread about our overnight? It was huge! I thought it was a lizard from far away.

One of my favorite parts of being outside is seeing all the cool small animals and bugs. Lots of fun IMHO.

Cool shots man. I am happy you got the camera and are sharing your lil ventures.

Thanks

I got a few shots of this dragonfly...

And this one of the female (you can tell because it's prettier) of the species, looking right at me...

pretty darn cool man.

That little dot by the eye is called the ocelli. They are very primitive eyes that can only detect light change.
