Where can I find some more detailed info on how to be entered in the contests? I thought that just posting put you in the running. What is all this number picking stuff about? Congratlations to the speedtech winner... I wish it had been me! John

Ok, maybe I'm a little slow this morning, but the explanation of the random numbers doesn't make sense.

You say a random number is generated for each BF member, presumably by BF's itself. Then you say each member is asked to provide a random number at midnight. How do the two numbers determine the winner? Please explain this.

Also, asking members to provide their numbers at midnight seems a bit unfair since it excludes people who can't stay up that late. For example, I get up early in the am, so I've been asleep for a couple of hours by the time midnight hits. Why can't the numbers be submitted on the last day so long as they're in by midnight? I figure everyone should be able to hit BF's at some point in that 24 hour period.

Respectfully,

Dave Fulton

Dave,
It took me a while to get it too and, judging by the number of "my number is..." posts I see, we're not alone. Try looking at it this way -- BF assigns a random number to each member (think of them as virtual raffle tickets). They then ask members to pick which number will be the winner by posting a number after midnight (the equivalent of picking a raffle ticket out of a hat).

I think where most folks get confused is that they believe they are picking their own number for the raffle. This isn't the case. The first poster after midnight is, in effect, the person who picks the winning number out of the hat. Whether or not you post a number has no effect on your chances of winning -- if you are a member and have posted at least twice during the month, your number is in the hat.

I hope this helps or did I simply succeed in further confusing things?

I may be goin' to hell in a bucket, Babe, but at least I'm enjoyin' the ride.

I can vouch for the fact that you have nothing to do but post. I was blissfully slumbering the sleep of the just when my number came up. Your number is generated randomly, and it's different each month - there's no way for even you to know what it is.

From the people who do post numbers at the end of the month, one is picked, and that number is checked against the member it correlates to.

Honest - you don't have to do anything other than post throughout the month. There's nothing you can do to increase your odds. Being there for the drawing is fun, but completely unnecessary.

BTW - Thanks, John! I'm totally psyched to get my hands on it!

Thanks guys!

I'm with ya now!!! Now that I understand how the contest works, I wouldn't change it.

For the record, I didn't think anything shady was going on, and hope that isn't the way I came off. I figured that, as is often the case, I just misunderstood something.

Thanks again everyone!

Dave.

P.S. My wife is getting me the multi-tool that I want for x-mas and asked me if I was going to stop carrying my Endura once I got the MT. My response was "Ha ha ha ha ha.".
