Ryan, I think there will always be a market for the traditional stuff. It may become a smaller market, but it will still be there.

I think I may have been a bit jaded by the severe lack of proper traditional knives over here in Australia (I've never seen a case knife over here, besides my own of course. ;) ) That may be due to the lack of local manufactures I suppose, as we import almost all of our knives.

I wonder when the next knife 'revolution' will happen, and will cause 'modern' knives to become traditional? It seems unlikely but I don't think the modern revolution could have been envisioned, so we won't know until it happens.
