Moore Maker

An interesting aside about the Canal Street knives made for Mooremaker; Canal Street doesn't make any of their knives in 1095, but the ones they make for Mooremaker are, so if you're looking for a CS lockback or trapper in 1095, Mooremaker would be the way to go.

Thanks for the info, Eric. Coincidentally, I just ordered two Canal Street knives this morning.

I just had a chance to take a close look at some Moore Maker today. It was a street fair, and when I asked, the seller said they were made in Texas. My guess is that he just doesn't know. He was selling some Case, MM. and some horrible Pakistani boat anchors. All the MM knives were yellow delrin, clearly less expensive models, and sold for 40-60 bucks. Of course being a knife hound, I really wanted to like them, but frankly they were terrible. Gaps in the springs, terrible f&f, the grinds were bad and the edges were unbelievably poor. I almost pulled my GEC out so he could compare them, but couldn't bring myself to do it. Either he couldn't see the differences in quality, or didn't care. And yeah, I know we're comparing a 100 dollar GEC to a knife half the price, but even if you consider that you can buy a Buck 110 for less than 40 bucks, it was embarrassing. The MM just doesn't cut it, at least not the ones I saw today. I'll stick to my GEC's, Case/Bose, and customs.

Unfortunately there is no comparison between the higher end queen made MM's and the other lower end lines. All my queen made MM have excellent f&f. See my post 12 in this thread to see the quality.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that these were all manufactured by Bear and Sons. :barf: I can't believe MM continues to dilute their brand reputation like this.
