My father in law is a farmer and a cattleman. He carries and uses a Mooremaker large, round bolster stockman. He also uses one of those Queen Congress knives for castrating young bulls.
The only Trapper I have is a Case.....clip and spey in pocket worn red bone....... my MooreMaker is a five blade sowbelly stock knife....smooth yellow bone..... the most used blades on both are the clips since I find more general cutting chores than nutting...... the sheepsfoot follows the clips for usefulness in these chores.... I save the speys for a very specific purpose since I don't carry a wet stone around I like it sharp and ready to go..... on the topic of old cattlemen... my grandfather always used a specific stockman for nuttin........ all three blades were razor sharp and he had rounded the tips on the clip and sheepsfoot...... when I asked him about it he said " less chance of accidentally injuring the steer, and less chance of the steer injuring me! " Makes sense to me as I would be kickin and screamin with someone carvin up my jewels too
