Moose skinning Nessie dressed in Beaver Tail

Robin, if I may, how are you de-greasing?...........Randy

Brother Edwood, glad you got out of the big apple.....

It was my first time in New York. It a very big and beautiful city, its funny how owning a car in New York is not such a good idea. For me, and they did not let me carry my Benchmade Bedlam.
i did take my map case Robin, its traveled a lot with me, haven’t had to put anything on the leather, its scratches just rub of. People ask me about it all the time, it looks like it’s a 100 years old. Thanks again Robin.

Thanks Robino. You sure wouldn't want a Beaver in your pants ;-)) Nessies are my favourite fixed blade knives too, love the curves.

background of the pic looks like a field of poison ivy, unless i'm not seeing it well enough...

i'm highly alergic and always aware of my surroundings in the woods, just the mere presence of ivy gives me a rash, seriously

No, it's raspberry bushes taking over. No poison Ivy in the area I live in.

Marthinus. Thanks, The texture is quite scaley, more so than most snake skin I have played with. It's interesting to work with.

Kid Terico, Thanks for your comments.

Hi Robin. Very nice. I saw a few of your Hawks at your booth in Tory Hill last summer. They were really good then, and have gotten better since. Love the Beaver Tail sheaths, and that Nessie is very cool. You said that the handles were Black Walnut. Did you harvest them yourself?

Hey Fred, great to hear from you again, glad you dropped in to the hawk/axe forum. Thanks for your kind comments.
The Walnut is from a tree that a friend of mine had taken down about ten years ago, he gave me a nice plank a while ago. It has air dried properly since being cut into planks about 9 years ago, super hard and nice straight grain. I made a hawk haft out of it, seems to be hanging in through a Lot of throwing.

Hi Robin. I was wondering if you are going to forge a double bit hand axe like Nessmuk's? I have been dreaming of a set of Nessies for many years.

Hi Howard, I've been thinking of doing a double bit hawk as my Nessmuk third piece and a two blade Moose friction folder. A Metis trio ;-)))) I'm really liking the through the haft hawks I've been making for throwing. The one I showed on here also chopped 6 inch poplars down with no problem. Soooo I'm going to do the double bit as a through the have type. The really great thing about them is,,, the haft never comes off. I have a nice heavy leaf spring that a member from here dropped off for me (the evil Mike on here). Think i'll forge a small cruiser shape. I like making friction folders and have always wanted to do a pen pattern so that works for the Moose that Nessmuk carried. Not really sure that a Moose is a pen, It might be one of those strange slip joints that for some reason don't fit the norm. Anyway, yes and soon I hope.

Best regards

Robin
