Stuff the bird with quartered apples.

Cover and bake as usual.

Now here's where you add the antlers...

Last hour, uncover it and glaze it with this:

Melt a jar of apple jelly in a pan, add a tablespoon of English Bitters and a stiff shot (or two) of Jack Daniels.

Brush it on til it's gone and you've got a thick glaze.

Carve it up with a BK5

Sip some Jack and watch 'em fight over it.

I tried this four years ago and the fam won't have it any other way. If you don't already have a favorite turkey recipe, or you just want
to try something different. Give it a shot.

Sounds delish. Think I'd use jack honey to make the glaze that much better

sounds good - but I'm injecting and deep frying this year.
may go with some Rebel Yell on one side, though. (creole garlic butter on the other side)

I'll probably be grilling mine out back again. Sounds like a good bird though.

I like 'em all. Smoked, deep fried, slow roasted....I like turkey. Hell, I like food period. I could be a major fat boy if I get lazy.

Bet it's good. But if you haven't tried a deep fried turkey - you don't know what you're missing.

heh.
it takes a lot of calories to maintain a figure like mine. :D

This may be the biggest thing since I brought in Wild Turkey cherries! Too bad my Grandpa won't let me near the turkey prep.

i used my BK last year to carve the community turkey

this year, the convex BK5 is going to do it.

in fact, the turkey is already carved. it's a quantum thing :>

You know the more you post the more I think we need to party together!

that doesn't sound like a bad idea. the 5 hour drive to the coast is a bit grueling by myself but my buddy's wife (the fire fighter in depoe bay) did just give birth a few days ago to their third and I still haven't met their second yet and he has a spare bedroom.

I've had a turkey fryer for, oh I don't know, probably 8 or 9 years.
All I've done is fry fish in it. One of these days...

I've had one for maybe 5-6 years. I fried a turkey in it once.

What do you do with all the peanut oil when you're done. Lube your lawnmower? That's my dilemma.
I had an electric siphon/filter when I was done. I think the oil is still sitting out in the shed. I'll bet it's really ripe now. :D

You might want to lube your lawnmower this afternoon. :D
