Ok, I'm strapped for time, and my knife stuff is lacking. I gotta trip coming up soon, but we need to get some stuff happening sooner than that.

One person with little time available, doesn't give much goods, but alot of people with a little time on their hands, well, that's alotta time.

So, I thought, perhaps, some help is in order. As Beckerheads, we love knives, all kinds of knives. Wanna help?

If so, here's what I'm asking for, some good head to head reviews, BKT vs. ????.

Each review will cover
Price (market value is fine)
Power cuts
General cutting duties (monkey fist grip, shaving maker)
Fine cutting duties (fuzzies)
Firesteel scraping
Sharpening (regular, not field sharpening)

In addition to that, some call this stuff abuse, I'll let each of you make the call if you want to add it

Clubbing (batonning with and cross grain)
Chopping
Prying
Metal to metal contact

If you want to beat up a car with your BK14, feel free, but prepare to be possibly flamed and ridiculed. I'm asking for good comparison reviews.

Don't sugar coat it, be fair and honest, and respectful of every knife and maker, though. If you wanna call it crap, you better have good data to back it up.

Feel free to compare BKT to BKT, BKT to Kabar, or any other knife you want, but try to keep in the same weight class. Don't make it BK9 vs. Mora No. 1, that's just lame. Pick of couple of guys that can give it a good run, and let them battle it out.

Just make a post, with the title of "BK(x) vs. (Opponent name here)" and lay it out.

Is this a contest? No, it isn't.
Will there be prizes? Possibly.
What's the catch? No catch, just some serious head to head reviews. If you don't wanna do it, don't do it, its for fun, and knowledge.

Chat here about possible matchups, and maybe even team up with another member, if you don't have said knife, perhaps a split review would work.

Do I have to sign up? no, please gawd no, just do it, just remember the title thing, it will help to know whats going on.

Its your post, so there is no limit to how many pics (cept BFC limits), video's whatever, doesn't matter to me.

Anyone can do it, no limits on participants, but you do have to have a BKT knife.

So what do you think ? Good idea?

How does a group swoop sound? I was thinking of doing a chopper comparison anyway. BK 9, FBF 12" machete, Ontario 12, Boomslang, Hudson Bay, Ka-Bar Heavy Bowie. Yes, no?

i did a video comparing the BK14 to the izula. not sure if it is up to standards but i think it would be good for people torn between both models.

What ever you want to do.

It sounds like a hit to me.

I'm gonna do a better review of that condor that I just got. I'll save my thoughts for the review but I'm sure I left out some things when I was talking about it in the general chat thread.

Tradewater, that would be AWESOME. Although I'm not in the market for one right now, I've been thinking of most of those knives there (with the addition of the Kabar cutlass machete) and even have a thread up asking about many of them, but I've had a hard time finding good reviews of each one, let alone a head to head one. A review like that would be invaluable to people out there like me.

And moose... I think this is a great idea, not only will it be great to read for all of us, but I know that when many people (for instance... me...) start researching which is the better of two knives they try to find reviews, and also comparison reviews and tests. With a whole bunch of reviews like that here, they'll stumble upon this, which will bring more people here. Thats more traffic for BF, and more good reviews for Kabar, which should mean they sell more, which should mean more cool knives for us.

win, win, win

Great idea moose.

This BK vs. X, definitely is a good idea.

Since I don't own either of these two knives, I wouldn't mind to see a match-up between the BK11 and the BK14.

Holy moley, crazy timing. I started planning yesterday for a BK2vsBK10vsWarthogvsCSTrailHawk Chopoff thread and actually would have done it except I passed out. So it'll probably be this weekend.

The tests I had planned were: Chopping, Splitting (end-on with a single swing to gauge which goes deepest, plus also hammering into a piece of wood down the side), Batoning, getting each stuck in order to gauge getting each unstuck, Drilling, and making tent stakes (and maybe fuzz sticks but I am terrible at fuzz sticks).

Hell, I'd even written the introduction:
Been out of town for several weeks and some of the new toys I got in that time have been sitting idle, which is NOT COOL. So I just hauled them out into the sunny 109F to give 'em a little fresh air. Also, I've been idly curious about performance when it all comes down to it... we've done a lot of talking recently about the BK10, but just how does it compare to the BK2 when pitted against each other with the same kind of wood? And how about the Warthog... what the hell is this thing actually for, anyway? Other than looking damn awesome. The CS hawk is there because presumably it will be the best at these wood processing duties and therefore will offer a good comparison.

Eh, they are the same blade, just different handles, i can post a pic of a side by side in hand and on a table if you'd like

I was thinking of doing a 2 vs 10 review during the 48 hr challenge. Crewman vs campanion on tests across the board. Sounds a bit easy and one sided but ill do it up and see what's comes out.

Once I finally get a Becker, I may do a test, if I have some spare time on the weekends or afternoon. (I was going to get one.. in Hunting season.. when I am usually busy) Sounds like a great idea though. Looking forward to all the comparisons.

Everytime I read your name, I lose.... you clever troll. :D

Holy toledo I just realized that I've got a BK11 and a custom necker on the way, so I'll be able to do a comp between them too. Gonna be hard to be impartial though!

Hmmm, sounds like a great idea. If I can free up some time (kids are going back to school and it's errand after errand round these parts) I'll try to do a BK-9 v Kabar cutlass v kabar kukri v HI kukri v some other chopper (probably busskin).
