MoosezChallenge, All Summer Long!!!!

Well this was the reminder I needed to become a member. Been a long time lurker and just started posting last year but have gotten so much enjoyment and help from this forum it is only right I become a member. I will throw a picture up anyways however since this looks fun! Here is my Mk1 Navy in its natural habitat...salt water!

Challenge accepted. I always wanted to try to light a fire in pouring rain, and today the sky opened up for real. So I thought it would be a good time to test my abilities (or lack thereof) as a firemaker. And any excuse to wield the BK9 is a good excuse.

I managed to get out this week while carrying my BK11. Checked mom and dad's garden, then we all took the kids fishing.

Beckers work on the Farm too!

Went and helped my Dad roll hay today, and had to splice in another roll of twine.

View from the cab ( wish he'd bought a tractor with a cab years ago)

I'm on vacation all week, so I went up to bum around in MI. This morning I took a long walk along the Lake Michigan shoreline. The BK11 is one of my favorites for this type of activity since there is nothing for sand to get into.... anyways, enjoy. I didn't make the necker work too hard since we are on vacation after all.

Went with dad to put a trail camera out on the farm Wed. Took the BK 7 along in case we needed to clear any limbs or just cut stuff, you never know.

After I took this picture, dad asks to see my "bowie" knife. (I think he only has one fixed blade besides kitchen knives, and it's small- 6"oal I think) So, I hand it to him and then he proceeds to chop a small sapling down. Took me by surprise or I'd got a photo of that.

This one's for you, Moose:

I couldn't really get a picture of my 9 'cause it was clenched in my teeth while I was wading in to take this beast and fill my freezer with moose steaks - then I remembered it's not even moose season yet and it wouldn't have fit in my tiny little work truck anyways...

Thanks for the challenge; it spurred me into getting the membership I've been meaning to get anyway since I started lurking around here and finally registering. Now that I'm getting the hang of posting pics and things, I'll be sure to add some real Becker content before the challenge is over. I hope you are enjoying your summer as well.

Edit: I'm not really getting the hang of posting pics...but I'll hafta leave as is and get back to work...

I took the BK10 along for a nice relaxing evening in the woods.

My "improvised" tent stake

Setting up my tarp shelter with a few field expedient stakes.

Using the BK10 to open up a Chicken Fajita MRE.

Dinner's ate and the closest thing to a time stamp I could muster.

So here is some pics of me and my two boys hiking to our favorite spot. We are lucky enough to live in the sticks and get to go out and play with our blades a lot. Its not much but its a nice little getaway.

The new members user name is Gabenator and he made his first post today, stop by and say hi to him he will appreciate it...he has a couple of nice pics of himself with his BK2.

As for the other part of the challenge this was the best I could do...

This was our basic haul. $5 garage sale pack, BK4, BK2 and a BK24 with 710 kydex and handles.

View from the top...

BK4 made short work of a large limb we used as fire prep...

Some lite work for the 24...

The boys next to the "Bigfoot Tree"

For the bears and cougars that roam the property...

Thanks for looking...sorry for the crappy cell phone pics and no pics of the fire, having to good a time with the boys and it just slipped my mind.

I finally got my best friend to join up here, his name is Jeff, screen name is JazzyJeff. We have been friends for 30 years now, we were in the scouts together way back when and have gone on many a camping/fishing/hunting trip although now that we are both married and fathers of young kids it is a lot harder to get some woods time. I posted some pics from a campout we did earlier this year, it was great to get back out in the woods with him again. I recently gave him my 14 that I had messed with modding and got it looking pretty good (imho) and I decided he needed a good knife too.

He is going to post some pics of him messing with his new 14, we are looking forward to a trip this Sunday to my ranch for opening day of dove season... going to go do some shooting and a little work on our campsite to try and get it ready for this fall.

I have been wanting to go frog gigging this year, since it's been about 25 yrs. since I last went. So last night I went. I bought a frog gig at Wal-Mart ( Don't do that!! It was a piece of junk, started coming apart on the first frog and after the second one it had only one tine left). I had fun and am planning to go back soon, like possibly tonight. I used the BK7 to trim the end of a pole to attach the gig to, and then used the BK11 skinning the frogs. Somehow I didn't end up with as many photos as I thought, but here's a couple.

Disregard the one latex glove. I ran a flap disk on a grinder over the end of my finger/fingernail earlier this week. I don't recommend that as a way to trim your fingernails!

Looking forward to spending some time out in the country. See if I can avoid changing any diaper for a day.Knife in log 2.jpgKnife in stump.jpgFire starter.jpg

My phone doesn't do time stamp for some reason but we are going dove hunting tomorrow. Does that work?

I apologize for the delay, but there are some good entries. I'm seeking assistance from an outside source.......
