I cant believe I pulled the trigger and bought a Mora knife. I never thought I would but I was in Cabela's and they had some on a rack for $14 so I impulse bought and now I have one. Please no not tell my SP10 friends that I own one.

Now for a few questions.

Do I now have to buy a Swiss Army Knife too? With or without the fork and spoon?

What is the stainless in these blades and what is a good stone to sharpen them on?

I am quiet impressed with the out of the package sharpness, very nice.

Do I need to get the carbon steel one or is the stainless adequate?

Steel is Sanvickn12C27 which I can't tell apart from 1095 if heat treated well. I've read reports of Companions chilling out but can't tell if Mora had a bad run of HT or if it just won't hold up to a pure, zero-bevel scandi.

I fully convex my Mora's and never have a problem with edge stability.

Best fixed blade handle I've ever used.

You can't go wrong with an SAK. It's the most sold knife in the world for a reason.

Skip the fork and spoon and get something alox.

Buying a Mora means you're smarter than a lot of people. They are a phenomenal blade for the price.

Yes. You do. Fork and spoon not required.

Standard Mora Steel is 12C27, which has the carbon content of 440A, but less chromium. It is easily sharpened on pretty much any sharpening stone: natural, or synthetic. Can also be sharpened on the bottom of a coffee cup.

Stainless works good enough for me.

I bought one a few years ago and for the money you can't go wrong I keep it in my tackle bag for fishing. When I go night fishing it's great to help make fires and makes short work of fish I decide to cook that night

None of the above. You do need to eat your lutefisk with cream sauce rather than drawn butter so people don't take you for a Norwegian. Try it with a little hot mustard.

P.s. I have never seen a Mora on the rack, at Cabela's or anywhere else. You are a fabulously lucky guy.

I am seeing them at more places then I use to. Cabela's is carrying them and I have seen them in many local outdoor places.

Cabela's has been carrying the Light My Fire in the fire steel section for awhile I believe but it has been recent that I have seen the Companion MG and Black on the racks at Cabela's.

I went in looking for a Ontario Rat 1 with tan handles but they don't carry it and the knife store I went in before I went into Cabela's only has the Rat 1 in black and pink but Cabela's does not have the Rat series so I was looking around and seen the Mora and after years of ignoring them I decided to try it and then judge. The only conclusion that I have so far come up with is that I may buy some more to give out as Christmas presents but that is still a few weeks away.
