Mora Eldris: Thoughts?

It may be a fun knife and a nice user for some people but it fills no need in my book. Too short and too fat to push out the Mora Classic n°1 (when going for the woods) or one of the neckers I carry daily. And I hate compound grinds...

I mostly agree with this. I got an Eldris out of curiosity, and partly cause it's got a cute, stubbiness about it, like a pug or a ladybug. But it wouldn't oust my Classic no.1 for utility either.
Now if the Eldris had a handle more of the slimness of the Classic no.1, I'd be all over that.

I've put mine through some heavy treatment for a few months now. Though I'd go with something longer in an extended outing, I find the Eldris to be surprisingly useful for its length, even for batoning wood. It really is a great neck knife, and the fat handle gives a very positive and comfortable control over the knife. I think due to the shortness of the blade and its curvature, it can be hard to get as much out of the length as one might like. A wharncliffe eldris would be amazing and would make much better use of the length available.

I kinda like mine. As previously mentioned, it's not the 'be all end all' recipe but it sure seems to work just fine. Haven't been able so far to find one thing that my Marttiini Lumberjack could do that the Eldris can't...

They're made by mora so I'm sure they're not a horrible knife, but they're real fat and stubby and to me they just look like a brightly colored turd.
I'd rather get a #1 classic.

Can someone tell me the overall length of the Eldris with sheath? Trying to determine if it will fit in the front pocket of the older SRO bottle bag.

I might try one if I can find a cheap one locally... at the moment though they're too pricey at the knife/outdoor equipment shops in Calgary, around $18 or so.

$18 !!!!
As if ... unless a carton "fell off the back of a truck ... "
It's too early for Chinese knock-offs.

Been using mine mostly as a bait chopper. Getting some rust around the handle gap from salt water incursion, but I'm not too concerned about that.

OL in the sheath is just over 5 3/4 inch.

I like mine, but it’s a niche filler: Legal, light-weight (I often carry a s**tload around in my daypack, and the ounces count), non-threatening, thick-handled (got XXL hands), handles humidity well (coastal city, ya know), pairs well with an SAK as an EDC combo.

I have many small fixed blades and neckers; they rotate, but the Eldris seems to get the most carry, due to the above.

For a smaller Mora I prefer the Morakniv Craftline Precision Trade Knife over the Eldris. The craftline is a much more comfortable knife to use than the chunky little Eldris.

I just recently jury-rigged a horizontal carry belt loop out of duct tape for my Eldris... so far this seems the best way to carry, as it's a little to bulky for neck or pocket.
I made a loop of folded-over black duct tape (multiply the belt width and thickness by two, and add a little for wiggle room when cutting a piece to make the loop), taped it closed, then taped that to the sheath of the Eldris using half-width strips of tape. Now it'll sit discreetly over my left pocket and not interfere with crouching or sitting. It's only had maybe an hour of belt time so far, so long-term verdict yet to be determined...
Anyway, I figured I should share if anybody else bought one and was bummed that they couldn't quite find a comfortable way to carry it.
