Having just taken my new Fällkniven PXL-WH on a fairly brutal winter climbing trip - what a great, sturdy pocket knife it is - and to treat myself for a new permanent contract including pay rise, I ordered an F1. It’s an upgrade to the old and much loved Mora Bushcraft I had with me as a fixed blade.

Plain old VG10 Lam, like the PXL-WH, but quite honestly, if you are stuck in the tent for hours on end, then maintaining knives, ice axes, etc. is a good way of passing the time. DC4’s are so light, you don’t notice you’re carrying them.

I think I am becoming the poster boy of basic models of Fällkniven. Well, maybe not poster ‘boy’, more poster ‘bald-middle-aged-man’...

I've been carrying nothing but a Mora Eldris in my pocket for several weeks now; and I'm one who normally switches out knives frequently.
Brings new definition to to the term, "pocket knife".

Bit of an old thread, but I bought the same blue Eldris today and it is a fantastic little knife.

I went to my local outdoor store to add a couple of Opinel #6’s to my arsenal and found them too small as I am used to #8/9. I was about to leave and saw the Eldris on sale for approx $25USD. I remembered you posting this pick and being intrigued, so I grabbed one.

This knife will be perfect for many of my light outdoor tasks. We spend every weekend from May-Oct in the woods and this little (but rock solid) knife will get lots of use.

Handy little guy that is a perfect pocket or neck knife.

Lucky! I wanted to get one of these Eldris up here in Canada, but they are gouging and charging $60 CDN (about 46 USD). I'll pick one up when they are reasonably priced.

The outdoor store is “Sale” but spelled differently. Like what you do with a boat.

Not sure where you are located but they have a bunch of locations. Likely in store only as I don’t recall seeing them listed online. I bought mine in Oshawa, Ont for $34CAD.

Knife Center has them for $24.95US.

thanks - I happen to have one nearby :) that's where I got my opinel no.8 in bubinga not too long ago

There is a $55 one. It includes a firesteel and a metre of paracord. Not worth the extra $20. Opinel 8 and 6 are all on sale as well. Nice Woods for $19.95CAD. I have enough 8 and 9’s though...

Gentlemen, I have a simple question for you.

Living in Sweden, I'd like to know what you think of Swedish knives in general and in the later years in particular?

My feeling is that many of the traditional Swedish manufacturers/makers don't live up to their reputation any longer?

Best Regards,

~Paul~

I plan on getting a few new Falkniven. I just have not bought my first one. I think they're great knives. I only started to collect in 2017, and I don't know too much abt older knives so I cannot help you there.

I had an issue once with Falkniven, I received a letter in the mail from the owner himself! Great family oriented company.

I got my boyfriend Jake an Orange Mora Companion and we both love that thing!! ^_^ I'm very new to knives, but it, at least to me and my limited knowledge, seems of wonderful quality. We are thinking of giving it a forced patina to keep it extra safe from natural rusting and corrosion. Also it was under $20. You can't really beat that.

Cheers! :]

I've had a Fallkniven F1 for over ten years now, and it has held up great. It pretty much lives in my flight bag, but I take it out, and use it hiking, and camping once in a while. Great survival tool in a compact package. The Moras are an excellent value, and I have a few stashed in different bags, and usually take one with me on trips also. They are a great day hike, and camp knife.
