I'm guilty of being die hard mora lover...not because they are cheap, but because the of certain attibutes that appeal to me
1) I like the thin stock of the blade...(.098) if i'm not mistaken
2) i like the narrow with of the profile
these 2 attributes lend them selves to both a knfe that can be a first class carver as wel as a great small game and fish knife,
3) The 3.75 inch blade length Seems perfect for most general tasks
4) the oval handle shape of the wooden handled moras lends itself to many different grips
5) scandi grind -easy to sharpen in the field with minimal equipment and great for wood working
6) 1095 steel one of my fav's
of course one problem with the mora is that they are not full tang, something that always is creepin in the back of my mind.
With these things in mind I contacted Doug Dart over at DP knives and asked if he could drum me up something with these specs. Doug was happy to oblige and brought to life what might to me be an ideal belt knife
here are sme teaser pics of the prototype.....which I just recieved today... I haven;t got it outside yet but will give it a proer initiation and report back later this week
Note the blade is only slightly wider than my thumb
More to come
