Mora inspired custom

Dude - THAT I like. I think you are perfectly right about why you did this. THe ONLY thing I might change is to tape the front scales a bit to be able to choke up - but that could be easily fixed.

NICE!

DP - what is the cost on something like this for the masses? I hope I am not 'deal spotting' or something - but I think many people are interested.

I would have to say with a kydex sheath and shipped to the US or Canada $75.00 and I hope I am not spotting either. But I did just answer a simple question.

Maybe RescueRiley will post a picture or 2 of the sheath as well. Doug

Sounds like a good deal. I do have to add though, I have no fear what so ever of the Non full tang on the Mora, I just have way to many hours of use with them without any sign of a problem with the tang. On a couple that I planed to use for tough jobs, I drilled and pinned the handle.

I love it. I am currently really liking my Mora 510, Its funny...I am starting to wonder about my customs and the money involved in them. Not trying to hijack or start a different convo, just saying, I really like the performance of this $10 knife!!!

My wife is not impressed with custom knives, when she wants to use a knife, it is always the Mora that she goes after. I love my custom knives but truth told, a Mors is all I would ever need, with all the sizes and styles, there is always one just right more the job. This is even more true for me because I don't use a knife to chop or split wood anyway.

Of course it sure is fun to play with all the other knives:D

Mora's are great no-one;s debating that here... but there are times (in a one knife situation where something full tang with a nicer handle and a heat treat thats recieved some special attention is worth its weight in Gold...

I kinda wonder how important the full tang is on a smaller knife - I guess that it depends on what kind of tasks you use the knife for. For me personally I tend to use my Mora knives for lighter duty stuff like food prep & carving and making fuzz sticks - basically keeping within the capabilities of the partial tang small knife. For hard use tasks I do have full tang knives - my BK-7 & BK-9 can handle chopping and batoning work.

Having said that I do like the custom knife and wish I had the money to get knives that are made just how I want them. I agree that the blade size & blade shape of the Mora knives is pretty useful, they make great utility knives and a Doug Dart custom with full tang would be a knife you can use for decades! Good stuff!

Pardon my pics guys... dropped my camera and cant seem to get the flash to turn off...

Did you run out of electrical tape?

Great little knife. We all own all sorts of knives but the ones that get used the most all seem to look just like this one. Mac

Nice work Doug! That is a great, simple, useable design. Nice execution.

Thanks John, RR asked me about his one and I was happy to work with him on it. He was non specific on handle material so I went with what I had that was the thickest, and it worked well. Doug

fantastic project! Have you Seen the Condor Sapien yet? You may like that. On making a full tang "mora", I'm sure you came to the same conclusions as I did: Its hard to make that handle shape not look ugly! Moras do it so well! I can't wait to see your finished user.

took some pics with a sheath as well

Nice Casio Exilim! I have one of the previous-gen 10.1 megapixel ones and it's still going strong. I got a newer one for my fiancee last summer. Great cameras.
