Mora Robust... Whaaaat?

An example of what I like to call my "Salmon Skin" Patina. I've done this on a few carbon steel knives with good results. One got some heavy tiger strip staining similar to a real red salmon... super cool.

My favo is the 1044P:

Well, that looks like a really nice blade. I've been putting these at the bottom of my to-get list for a long time (but at least they're ON the list, right!). Meow, maybe I should move them up a few spaces.

Yes, yes you should. You have a bunch of people telling you they're awesome and they don't cost much so you might as well get on board and see what the fuss is about. You can't not have a Mora!

Inexpensive knives , that ship actually sharp , good presentation , Im happy to buy a few I dont need just for the fun of it :)

I have the regular Mora Companion and recently took it into the woods to test against my Becker Bk17, doing some chopping, batoning, and fire prep. With the exception of chopping, the Mora performed just as well as my Becker. It doesn't feel as nice, but for $14 compared to the $80 I paid for the Becker, it's an amazing value, it also performs general knife tasks better. I was making a paracord lanyard and had the BK17 on my hip, but went all the way upstairs to get the Mora to cut the cord because it makes a cleaner cut. For their price and weight, theres no reason not to have at least a couple as backup knives.

Yeah, I was using my companion over my BK16 and Navy MK1 on my last camping trip. Both of those still had the factory edge though so I might like them more after a re-profile. Probably not as much as the Mora but it's worth a shot.

I picked up a Mora Companion in carbon steel and have been pleased with it. I just never liked Mora's, but this one has my attention and I may become a convert. This may be self evident, but I can see why Cody Lundin often uses at baton to cut wood with his Mora. Never really thought about it much before. Takes less effort with such a light blade.
