I'm about to place an order at Ragnar's for some more backup Moras and I saw a new model called the Sports Knife. One thing that I was going to get another for is for canoeing in the Spring. This looks like a good choice...bright color, keeper strap. Anyone have any experience with this model or how it compares to the others. Right now I have the Clipper, 946, and 711. Only disadvantage that I can see is the clipped blade that might not be as strong as far as tip breaking.

no experience here, but if you are worried about the tip, you could take it to a grinder or hit it with a file. you mention for canoe use; i would personally go for a modified sheepsfoot tip.

like i said, no experience, but it looks pretty good to me. i wonder how the keeper strap clips...a snap of some sort?

I have a yellow one and it's awesome. The strap is a simple rubber snap closure. Very secure, perfect for your canoeing trip, easy to see colors, and my favourite handle of all I have tried. I like the clip point too, I have used it as a hole reamer and it worked great.
It won't break if you use it right, which is with common sense.

Looks solid to me. I have used many Moras except for this one. What do you risk in buying a Mora? You get what you pay for and then some.

Oh, I know. It's just nice to hear opinions and experiences before buying and maybe see a pic or 2.

I should try one out myself too, but I can't put down my clippers. I like the looks of the sheath that the sports knife comes in. I hope this doesn't get off the subject. I have one quick question. Anyone know of a place where I can get a decent pre-made leather sheath to fit my clippers?

Not leather, you probably already know about Normarks awesome kydex ones.
I like the traditional leather myself though, I just bought a pouch for my one hand trekker, I want my nessmuk trio to have all leather clothes. (gransfors bruks sfa and fallkniven F1 to round it out)

I like traditional leather as well. I just joined today and have been posting like crazy, but I'm still not up on who's who. So this Normark makes kydex? I would prefer leather, but that's good to know in case I ever convert to kydex. Does he frequent the forums a lot?
