Moras

I have a wood handle laminated blade and a SS Clipper that I have used for years. Excellent blades. I have many Mora's and really don't have a favorite.

I expected more of the Temperance.

@Pitdog: A thicker knife will give you more confidence, but try to see it this way: Compared to what our forefathers hat to use for real survival (flintknives or even cheaper and thinner blades) Moras aren't so bad. I bet most of them would have been luckier with a Mora.

It may have already been mentioned. But Lee Valley has a few Mora blades for sale in the 4 and 6 inch lengths for those interested in customizing. I picked up a few. The blades are sharp right out of the packs even though they jst have bare tangs. I'm in the process of doing one up now. Can't wait to give it a field test.

Mora's are decent cheap blades no more no less. I can't understand how they have got this strange legendary status and before you say that's because I haven't got one I actually have two and yeah they are ok for a CHEAP blade !

Ps is it just me or is this pic sexy and scary at the same time ?

Ya know, somebody could find that photo disturbing.

It was hotdog night. Didn't see it that way I guess. Nathans dogs are the best!

You guys would really be scared if you saw her with her machete!!!

My two knifes i use every day. Love them both to death. The 746 Mora came nice and sharp, that did not last long as i ruined the edge(we wont talk about that). So i reshaped the whole grind to make it a true scandinavian grind and since then it has been a great knife and only takes a couple swipes on my small 1inch by 4 inch diamond shapener to get it back in shape. The grip is great! Feels a lot better then it looks

The Aito Puukko with Birch Bark Handle was my present to my self. Its also very nice, came with a scandinavian grind but like the mora has to be reworked to get a true scandinavian grind. Which i have been to lazy to do after doing the mora stainless. But its sharp as it is so i will wait till it needs to be resharpened. The handle is great and it well looks so lovely. Had everything i wanted in a nice knife. Well a whole in the handle would of been nice but then it would of ruined its look and i dont really need a hole in my knifes if i do i will buy a mora for that!

One knife is a 13 dollar knife the other a 80-90 dollar knife. Which one is better. Well the Aito Puukko has a full tang and is thicker, and looks better. But for actually use i wont see a difference. They both work the same they cut/shave wood. Thats what i ask my knifes to do. Not play prybar or fightknife or the superdupper survival knife. So i like them both alot and think that mora get the right amount of attention with users.

ps to be honest i use my mora more as its the sharpess one i have right now and i do a lot of wood carving (bow making). But as soon as i sharpen the Aito it will be my main knife.

About 31 years ago I picked one up at a local sporting goods store for the sum of $3.99. It was a kid's knife with a plain varnished handle, a guard, and a crappy sheath of...ehem.. faux leather. (You guys complain about the plastic ones?) Eventually the guard broke off and after ten years of faithful service, I lost it.

After you folks turned me on to Ragner, a #2/0, #1, #2, and a Clipper are back doing alot of the cutting chores the old one did.

Here's the mora I'm working on. The handle is oak. one I'm done shaping it I'll either oil or stain it, wrap it with green para chord, and make a sheath. I'll have a factory mora soon as a fellow I'm doing a sheath for is shipping me one to use as a pattern and keep it when I'm done as a partial payment.

the 510 and 545 arrived. surprisingly large. much more shine to the carbon blade than last time, too. also a bit less sharp.

so I finally joined the mora club too

got:
1 780 black triflex
1 740 green carbon
1 mora 2000 by FROSTS not eriksson

I 'm inpressed with the quality, pretty sharp too
will change the sheaths that are really low low quality, they work OK but...

Maxx

just discovered the 780 doesn't like lemon, it get a dark patina... (removed with some polish)

THe 510 the 711 the 746 the 2000 and the majority of the wooden handled versions are full or at least stick tang.....THe 510 rules.
