Morbid handle material

Sssssshhhhhhhh! Don't tell anybody! It will turn into the next big thing. Just like oosic. And I thought animal jawbones were disgusting handles.

What would we call it - human ivory?

Come on, you gotta admit it would be interesting. Nasty, but interesting. The really freaky part is that on another section of this website, they say that human finger bones and vertebrae are perfect for jewelry making. What kinda nut is gonna wear that jewelry!?

Unless you have your own leg amputated and use your own leg bone for the handle. I can see it then. In fact I cant think of a more personal knife.

My momma would slap me and take me down to have a good talkin' to from the preacher!

Go getcha something that ain't so un-natural!

Just curious...how would you cure bone to make it suitable for a blade?

Make it a ham bone. I dont know?

Human Bones,NO I DON"T THINK SO...
But they have some other really cool stuff like the saber cat teeth ( I have always wanted one on a handle)and of course teh oosic ( which they call something else)
The dinosaur bones would be cool along with allot of the other animal bones like a coyote leg, that would be cool.Gues I will watch for one that has been hit and clean the bone myself though. But I just couldn't do the human bone unless it was for somebody like bruce said that had lost it in a amputation or something and wanted it as something special.

There is nothing unnatural.
It's just somewhat creepy for us.
Actually many ancient and modern cultures have things made out of human bones.
Human bones were and still are used for knife handles in certain zones of Tibet.
I've also seen straight flutes made out from a human bone and silver, and other things. They have the same function, in local cultures, that "memento mori" had in medieval and renaissance Europe: remninding the user that his existence in this world is only temporary, and to prepare for the afterlife.
Human bone can be traded and it's not illegal. You don't need to be a graverobber to have human bones. Actually many skeletons in medicine classes are real human skeletons. Many people state in their last wishes that they donate their bones to some university or the other.

The last time I checked, this isn't Tibet or "mid-evil" Europe :)

Anybody remember the Troma Films movie "Street Trash"?
Now if one were to make a cast of a human bone then use some other material that would be kinda cool. For like a movie prop or something. Can you make paper rag micarta at home? But actually using real human body parts for jwelery and sculpture is pretty damn sick, and a really metaphysically dumb thing to do to boot.

i think a knife with human bones would totally rock - its a great idea. if you try it i hope to see pics of the end result

Am I missing something here folks??

Are we, humans, so much specialer than other animals, that while we can use their bones, we cant use ours?? WTF?

Bones are bones... I'm sure animals dont like the idea of their bones being used for making knives, or they wouldnt could they comprehend it... and we already seem to be sure we wouldnt like the idea of human bones....

but what is the differece? We, humans, are animals too... no different than anything else.

Wait till the next species that in habits this sorry dirt ball starts making knives... they'll be using our bones in all likelyhood.

I can see it now, in knife rags 2 million years from now,
"Gurralllnard Tacticalus Cutter by Hawarlg Groonfood, Human Bone Grip Stick"

Seriously folks... come on... drop the attitude of superiority, we are just another species of animal, and we're all in this togather, if you;re gonna use their bones, whats wrong with OUR bones? NOTHING!! a bone is a bone is a bone is a bone. there are no exceptions.

Personally, in the hieght of my "bunny hugger" (as some of oyu might call it) mentality, I would rather use human bones for a knife handle than bones from other animals.
I have no problems with it... dead people dont bother me. they are just non-living, in-animate, DEAD tissue and bones.

Yes I would use a human bone on a knife handle if I could get it to hold up.
No I wouldnt have a problem with it.
No I am not clinically or otherwise insane.

And there is just one of me. And we are quite happy. :D
