More advice wanted.

How do you pronounce Paradigm? Is it Para-dig-um or Para-dime? I think I've been saying it wrong... for a while.
I pronounce Paradime. New one will be much simpler to pronounce.

I thank each one of you for your advice, experience, and input. I have read through all of these posts several times and will begin with the Vantage that Makael has so kindly offered to send to me. I will search out and try the others as well. I'll let you know how its going. Goal is to not have to use this knife, but to have it as an additional option should the need arise. OH

Classy move, Makael! I think you'll like the Vantage, OH. I toted one on a 3000 mile road trip several years back with a similar requirement for what you seem to be looking for. It takes a little practice to flip it, but once you get the routine down it works pretty well. I rarely use the thumb hole but you might find it suits you. It was comfortable and comforting when I was in somewhat sketchy areas I was unfamiliar with. Also great for apples, cord, bread, and similar tasks. Let us know what you think of it, once you've coordinated a suitable opening technique.

In my 'Not Walking Dead' times I am a Vantage person. I like they ride below the pocket edge, with only the clip visible, curling over the lip of the pocket. I have a 'Para" but it has too much recoil on opening. And it too heavy for my summer pants pocket. A last advantage of the Vantage is lower cost.

Mike is truly one of the good guys!

I’m not sure if you are set on a Buck branded only pocket clipped knife. Which of course there’s nothing wrong with being brand loyal. The Buck/Mayo is one from Buck I like. The smaller one. They still pop up for sale time to time.

But IMHO, the brand which popularized the thumb hole opening pocket clipped knife would have a better selection of what you’re looking for. Quick and easy to open. Thin. Various blade steels and shapes. With many pocket clip options to choose from.

The vantage is the only buck knife that has sliced through my hand in the pocket. not trying to be a downer. I trust my 18' club vantage, and have carried on many occasions with no worry. the 546 is what you are looking for, cheap, great action and lock up and has a clip. one hand deploy without fail every time, slightly heftier than a 110!!!! I have a couple i picked up cheap and would rival it against many knives at twice the price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Edit, they are about 2wice what i paid a year ago on the bay. so if you want one, i have an extra laying around that could use a quick sharpen and would be good to go, send me postage and its yours.

Was in an Academy Sports on Monday and found this one while looking over their stock. Been carrying last two days, very light, unobtrusive (except for the color), getting pretty decent at opening it, locks very tightly, the 110 may be a better length but so cheap it was easy to decide to give it a try. Looking forward to try a few other models. The thumb studs have to be worked around when stoning the edges (edge was in need of a bit of touching up new out of the package, but nothing unusual). OH

The Vantage that Makael gave me arrived today. I spent a little time getting to know it, then clipped it in my pocket to carry. Very nice Buck Knife, I’m going to carry it next couple days and give it a good try. I can occasionally get the blade to lock using the blade stud, sometimes not - I will work on my technique. Thank you Makael for a terrific gesture - very nice knife! OH

Nice. It made it. Those flip pretty good. Early lock up on almost all of the 72 or so I got. Just needs some flipping to break it in perfectly.
