more collaborations PLEASE???

I'd like to see a Benchmade/Spyderco colab in the spirit of the Spyker. I sometimes refer to knives from either company as Spydermades now, given what I perceive to be a lot of ideas and qualities being traded between the two.

I don't see this happening anytime soon. I think the "trading of ideas" you mention is sort of a one-way street. With Benchmade using Spyderco ideas. The only feature I can think of in recent Spyderco offerings that could be linked to a Benchmade idea would be the ball-bearing lock. Which is so different that I don't think anyone can accuse Spyderco of "ripping off" the concept (as opposed to the Cold-Steel/ SOG variants of the same) I think I remember Sal mentioning that Spyderco had "come to an agreement" with Benchmade about the Spyderhole's appearance on the Vex (and the Skirmish, and the AFCK etc.) Does this mean that Sal sued Benchmade and they settled, or that Benchmade is paying for the use of the trademark? I know this has been discussed ad nauseum, but I never came across any definitive answer one way or another. Certainly the two companies have been at odds in the past.

Did I have to bring this up YET AGAIN? Why not? The more times it comes up, the more people will see it.

My favorite designs seem to be Sals, then Erics. Sorry to be the dissenter. It is interesting seeing the extreme amounts of knowledge guys like Ed Schemp bring, along with a relentness desire to see anything with their name on it achieve their levels of quality, or pitch it and start over. I admire that. Joe

Great point Mastiff  I don't think that enough of us have realized the super great knives that either Sal or Eric have designed. Eric's 2 really notable masterpieces being the Dodo and the Manix. And 2 that Sal himself designed being the fixed blade Temperance, LIL Temperance and one of my personal sentimental favorites being the big C-54 Calypso.

Yeah sometimes all you got to do is to take a CLOSER LOOK to appreciate what you already have. But I still want to see them do a Boguszewski Spyder-Spike if that is even remotely possible :)

Dream Colaborations with Spyderco:
Benchmade
Darrel Ralph
Strider
Chris Reeve
Mcusta
Fallkniven
Spencer Reiter (please do a hornet colab!)
Randy Doucette
Shane Sibert (oops already done: http://www.tadgear.com/edged tools/custom knives/pocket_rocket.htm)

OH man did you hit on one there. A Fallkniven/Spyderco collaboration would be just simply super. Fallkniven is one of the few production companies whose quality comes close to Spyderco's.

I would like to see a folder and a fixed blade done with a Spyderco/Fallkniven collaboration. That would be interesting indeed :)
