Spyderco made limited run of Military with CPM S90V.
How did it go? Will it be regular model with CPM S90V.
Will it be any CPM S125V runs?

Thanks, Vassili.

It was announced once for Military limited run, but turns out to be hard to grind at that time. Now Spyderco able to make CPM S90V and I hope they found right tools for hard to grind steels.

CPM S125V is next step after CPM S90V however all what I know is that Sal announced it once, but I have no idea of composition etc... I think it may be stainless version of CPM 15V.

Thanks, Vassili.

CPM M4 is a non-stainless tool steel with very high wear resistence. Currently, it is planned for the next Mule Team knife, but beyond that I've not heard anything. Sal doesn't seem too fond of putting non-stainless steels in pocket knives. The way folks whine about having to maintain their knives to prevent rust, I don't blame him a bit.

The last word I heard on CPM S125V was CPM was having a hard time rolling out stock and it is currently available only in Cru-Clad, which I assume is a laminate with S125V core and something more managable outside.

Yes, I also remember, but it was not flat Cru-Clad, but some 3D detail for some machine - at least as I understand that.

It will be magnificent to have CPM S125V laminated with something like 154CM and I already asked here few times Crucible to make it. I hope they finally will and we will have it in Military. This resolves grinding issue or even make it possible to stamp.

Thanks, Vassili.

Vassili, you should stop by here more. The S125V thing probably won't ever happen. Production would be pretty unreasonable. I have a piece I've filed on, sanded on, all by hand and with diamonds too. This is non heat treated, annealed too.

Even clad with cpm 154cm it would need water jet or lasers to cut.

Best bet is contacting Phil Wilson for a custom. He has stock on hand and has worked with it . Phil's at http://www.seamountknifeworks.com/ Good, guy, great knives. That's what I'd do if I had the money.

This stuff I've been working on doesn't look much different from when I started. :D Of course I can blame my arthritis.( which is getting worse working on this stuff.) Tougher than my ex's lawyer. Colder hearted than my ex's this S125V! is. :D

Go get some while Phil still has stock. See ya Vassili. Joe

I think the Cru-clad was only in round stock, completely unusable for knives.

edit- if you guys aren't completely stuck on stainless, Butch Harner has a small 10V fixed blade with purpleheart scales for sale in the makers' area. I have a couple CPM154 knives by him, he does his own heat treating.

I have JPHolmes 10V, I hope he will get some CPM S125V too. Or if you tell me how to get some I can get and ask him to make knife out of it for me. He has no problem working with any steel and makes excellent knives!

Thanks, Vassili.
