We know hype sells on eBay and I give this seller an A+ I had no idea my old 119's were so 'SPECIAL'... :)

edit.. I've seen this used before, searched and found it. I posted about it last year, that time the same write-up was used for a 120 General.

The lack of a true US Army issue fighting knife in the 1960s led many cutlery companies to produce their own versions for sale to servicemen. The famous Buck Knives offered a rugged 6" blade fighting knife known as the 119 "Special" to soldiers at base PXs or via mail order. This US Army Vietnam TWO LINER BUCK 119 "SPECIAL" PX FIGHTING KNIFE is in good condition..... Most interestingly, it features a 5 7/8" clip point bowie blade, sports the classic black phenolic resin handle, and dates to ca. 1967-1972 by the two line "BUCK / U.S.A." inverted maker's stamp at the reverse ricasso. It boasts a metal guard and pommel, and is a fine example of a rare, original US Army Vietnam TWO LINER BUCK 119 "SPECIAL" PX FIGHTING KNIFE. No scabbard included. We have shown a photo of a US Army Scout Dog team in Vietnam; the trooper second from left wears a similar Buck knife strapped to his calf.

Oh now that’s just good stuff right there. :D

Strange ... One of my Uncles in the Army spent a couple years in Viet Nam from 1960 to 1962. (Infantry)
He was issued the Army's version of the Ka-Bar, and a Demo knife.

I don't know what the difference is between the Army and Marine Ka-Bar Combat knife. Other than maybe the Quartermaster's branch of service that handed it to him.

There is more than one dealer out there that lists every garage modified knife from the 50's to 60's as "theater built" and gives stories about soldiers building knives from old truck parts . He then asks about 10 times their value. That is how it's done I guess.

There's not much except for the name. Kabar is the manufacturer they were all officially MK2 fighting knife and there were many manufacturers that produced it.

Hey guys shut up. This stuff is real. I’ve got this pair of WW2 trench shears in the drawer in my kitchen. It was made by some guy named “Cuisinart” in the back of a duece and a half out near the Maginot line. I think he was a colonel or something. He even engraved his name on the side. Real neat handwriting too.

Rare and or vintage seems to be on quite a few Buck Knives anymore.

I was just looking at a rare vintage 3 line (tip up) Buck 103 today that was for sale for over $170 and thinking how ridiculous this is getting to be.

How confusing it must be to the novice when looking at purchasing one of these knives with such descriptions.

I saw a 506 in terrible shape( hype said excellent shape) with 21 bids. I don’t get it. I can’t believe a collector would even consider it, and a novice wouldn’t know its a collectible. Spa wouldn’t bring it back and the tip was broken. Would have had to reblade it with a late model 505 blade.

This is a picture of a serrated 119 I bought from a guy who told me it was in new condition and never sharpened. I sent it back to him and he did refund me my money.

119 purchased is on top compared to a serrated 110 on bottom. It's actually been sharpened clear down to the bottom of the serrations so that the serrations now stick down. This is the picture I sent to the buyer. He said he is the original owner of the knife and it has never been sharpened and that this is how he received it when it was new.

Here is a new sales pitch when the knife does not come with a box. This is one sentence taken from a sales listing.

"This knife is no longer produced and it was so new when I purchased it the dealer did not have boxes or sheaths to go with it."

I am soooo glad I quit eBay 11 year ago. It seems there are even more unethical and crooks selling today than back then, and there were way too many back then.

I've yet to be burned on ebay. Some deals now and again.

It's all but impossible to get burned on ebay, buyer protection protects all purchases protecting the buyer 100 percent. Plus I won't knock eBay because our own copper and clad and SKblades on there as well.
