More eBay hype....

It's all but impossible to get burned on ebay, buyer protection protects all purchases protecting the buyer 100 percent. Plus I won't knock eBay because our own copper and clad and SKblades on there as well.
If I can save up enough to buy from Copper and Clad, I will buy from their website, and pay with my debit card. There are a few knives there that I want. :)

I know eBay backs the customer 100%.
I used to sell a little on eBay, in fact.
When the Wii first came out, I sold one on eBay. Factory sealed box, exactly as advertised.
The "buyer" (more of a thief) lied to eBay, and said he did not get what he thought he was. eBay not only refunded his money from my Pay Pal account (since closed) but not only did they not require him to return the Wii; they told him to keep it! Thus, I was not only out the $120 I paid for the Wii, but the FedEx shipping, as well.
eBay's policy is
"The Seller can do no right. The BUYER can do no wrong."
Since roughly 2006/2007 NO buyer has received negative feedback. eBay only allows positive or neutral feedback for buyers. Heck, for all I know, they've made it positive or nothing for the buyers by now.
Sellers, on the other hand, can and do get negative feed back, even when not deserved. eBay does not remove undeserved negative feedback on sellers.
I quit eBay when they decided that except for Real Estate and possibly a few vehicles, EVERYTHING has to be paid for using their Pay Pal division.
I do NOT do Pay Pal. The only reason I had a Pay Pal was to accept payment.
When I bought something on eBay, (usually antique/ vintage fishing gear and bicycle parts, although I did buy two vintage folding bikes, too) I sent a postal money order. Whatever I bought was shipped after the seller received and cashed the money order.
I figured eBay made enough with their "seller's fees" (in addition to the store fees, if applicable) I did not, and do not think they need to charge the buyer the Pay Pal fees just so they could pay for whatever they bought.
I will never go back to eBay, for any reason.
I will never open another Pay Pal account.

Sorry to hear your issues. Personally I have had no issues at all.

I've never had a problem buying or selling and I have had the lying buyer and ebay backed me up...Maybe it was your demeanor towards ebay, I've been on ebay since 2004...If you put an add in the paper it would cost you plus you would have who knows what kind of people coming to your house. You say you had paypal just to receive money and you had to pay a fee. Every business in the world gets charged a fee when they use a service that collects money by any means especially CC. You can list other types of payment, yes you also have to accept paypal, but someone can write you a check. I accept checks if they want, it just won't get shipped until the check clears. How much do you think the exposure that you get thru ebay would cost you if you had to do it on your own?? I've bought a lot of Buck knives and Military Edged Weapons off of ebay that I wouldn't have been able to find anywhere else, without a problem...
You just have to know what you're buying or selling and there would never be a problem...

EVERYTHING has to be paid for using their Pay Pal division.

not true----1st of all ebay does not own paypal anymore--they have not owned pp for a few years now......also you can accept other forms of payment for a sold item ---the rule is you can not say that in your listing.....your listing must state that paypal is your preferred method of payment------but if a buyer emails asking if they can send you a check or money order --you can then tell them yes that you will accept the check payment---I have even had people send me 500 dollars cash before-- and hell yes they did get their item........been working feebay 12 years successfully now --almost 11,000 feedback -no negatives --I don't screw people---I treat people the way I want to be treated...
sorry for your problems but feebay is great except for the dang fees....

I have never heard of a buyer being charged any fees.....if they have money in their paypal account......if the buyer uses a credit card to make a payment through paypal then of course he gets charged a fee for using that card.......if the buyer has money in his paypal account to pay for an item bought he does NOT get charged any fee---only the seller gets charged the fee......

I'm glad you have not come across a dishonest buyer.
I too have honest descriptions, clear photos, and a reasonable reserve or buy it now, if applicable. I also shipped promptly after payment was received.

oh believe me I have had many dishonest buyers----that is something you have to deal with in any business--I do accept returns---but the last few years feebay has been pro seller more than in the past---they still think the buyers are the king but they do help sellers more now than in the past......but I would say probably 95 % of the people are good on feebay and then there is the 5% asshats--that's just the way the world is....I live with it now--- I been through quite a few mouses being pissed off at a dishonest buyer or talking to an idiot on the fone at feebay-man they are some dummies huh.......I just keep in mind the returns that Walmart must get everyday----I am nowhere near that....ya cant make every person happy --but I am happy I don't have to punch a time clock at the factory....
I sold a video game system in my 1st couple of years and that was all it took---no mo and never will--my rule is to stay totally away from electronics....

I was on the Bay a couple days ago and there was this guy going on and on about a special little piece of metal he had installed on the end of a 110 to attach a lanyard to. Let me think... if I remember correctly it was something like MT Polk. :)

----1st of all ebay does not own paypal anymore--they have not owned pp for a few years now......

Just for fun and to be contrary... Yes they are now separately traded companies but if you want to consider the share holders to be the owners then.... at the time of the split every eBay shareholder received 1 new PayPal share for every eBay share held as compensation......so initially they were both owned by the same shareholders.

He may be using word play to catch the foolish. States buck 110 sheath and knife, so he can say the sheath is for a 110 and buyer didn't read his write up as he intended and made assumption that knife was a 110. Crafty

If one reads the item description, the seller clearly states the following: "Folding hunter knife unmarked with a Buck 110 knife sheath ......"

Got bored a few minutes ago and went looking for another old 110 on ebay-I can very occasionally find one about to end for under $20. Within the first 5 minutes of looking there were two auto conversions, both the Chinese clones the market is plagued with.
