I know! Me too.
The only place I can get that stuff is online. I wonder if any other gun oil will do that...

any oil will work, its better if its clear. i dont like gun oil because of the smell.

ive been using mineral oil, clear and no smell. you can get it at any pharmacy or cvs. its in the laxative section. no really.:)

YOUR PHOTOS MADE ME REGRET NOT ORDERING A FBMLE AND BOUGHT ONE ON THE EXCHANGE!! I WAS ALSO GOING TO ASK ABOUT THE OIL FOR THE SCALES!! I WILL HAVE TO PICK UO SOME EEZOX OIL! THANKS FOR SHARING THOSE  J

I wonder if EEZOX oil has a reddish color to give the scales such a look
The FBM scales I saw so far were all more on the yellow side.

Mine were yellowish before I oiled them. When I oil mine, they go toward the reddish side. The Tigerhide in Dahsyat's turns to an orange and black, instead of closer to red and black. Makes it look the way Tigerhide should look!

I'm glad you picked one up! You will not regret it. I hope you didnt pay and arm and a leg for it, but in the end. It will be worth it!
Do the Mistress a favor and use her! :D

Cool, I will give it a try. My FBMLE should be here next week.
I will post a before and after pic of the scales.

Based on the way most of my black paper tends to develop tan tints when dry, I'm convinced that some of the "lightness" on the scales is due to surface oxidation of the plastic resins. It may be that EEZOX removes and impedes further oxidation and helps the deeper color remain.

awesome pics gunsite!!! hope you ordered the matching batacle! maybe you could get matching numbers.

Thanks for the great idea! I called the shop and got the same #!!
It was actually only 13 off from the number it was going to be.
Thanks again, man!
and AMY ROCKS!

I'm sure you're aware I'm not a regular at this forum (Was found this thread through this link), but I did have a question.

This isn't directed entirerly at the original poster, but a lot of people on Blade Forums in general. Based on my personal experiences, it seems other people have incredibly low expectations of their knives. In this thread a single tree was chopped down and then the OP appeared to be surprised that his knife could still shave. What makes me curious about this is that I have used many of my larger fixed blades extensively, chopping and batoning through over 20 times this much material in between sharpenings and my knives never lose their shaving edge. This is with 1095, Swedish stainless, spring steel and a couple others.

My question for the original poster (And anyone who's expectations would of mirrored his own), is what real world experience has led you to expect such low performance from your cutlery steel? Is it normal for your knives to lose their edge that quickly under these conditions, or have you broken lesser knives doing the same thing?

Thanks
Mike
