Hi folks, I have a few more forged blades up for sale. All three in the first post are sold, but I'm adding 3 more blades in post #10.

That's just oil on the blades...

First up is this hunter- hand forged from 1095, heat treated to 59/60 Rc. Surface ground flats, and the main bevels have been ground down to damn near sharp with a 60X belt, then a light few passes with a 120X on the rotary platen to add a touch of convexity.

OAL- 6-3/4"
Blade- 3-7/8"L, 1" W, 0.176" T at ricasso

SPF Thanks John! :)

Next up is a full tang hunter/utility. I forged this completely by hand at a demo, using 5/8" round bar O1. Heat-treated to 59/60 Rc. This has been ground just like the hunter above.

OAL- 8"
Blade- 3-1/2" L, 1" W, 0.120" T at thickest point. The tang is tapered down to 0.016" (trued up on the surface grinder).

SPF- Thanks Vince! :)

The tang is tapered--- THIN! :) Bolt holes are 3/16" and the lanyard is 1/4"

Last for tonight is a bowie. It was forged from 1070, clay coated, and water quenched. I did all the work on this blade over 10 years ago, and actually had the blade completely finished. I kept holding onto it for the customer, but after all this time, I don't think he's coming to get it. ;) I went over the blade so that it's at what I would call a "foundation polish" of 320X. So it's ready to hand finish to whatever finish you want. There's a nice hamon in there, it will be up to the buyer to bring it back out. :)

OAL- 10-7/8"
Blade- 7-3/8" L, 1-3/8" W, 0.181" T at the ricasso

SOLD--- :) Thanks David!!!

Thanks for looking guys! :)

A Southwestern bowie. This is really what I think of as an ideal fighting bowie blade--- very pointy, but the blade has a lot of belly and a sharp clip. I forged it from Aldo's 1084. All heat-treating was done in my digitally controlled salt bath. Triple tempered to a hardness of 59 Rockwell. It's surface ground on the flats, ground down to near sharp with a 60X belt, then convexed slightly with a 120X belt on the rotary platen. The clip has been roughed in as well.

This could get a handle, be sharpened, and put to use.... or somebody with some serious elbow grease could hand finish it. Lots of elbow grease. :)

OAL- 13-3/8"
Blade- 9-1/2" L, 1-5/8" W at widest point, 0.222 thick at the ricasso

$150 shipped in the states

Next up is a W2 hunter. This was forged down from very large stock. All thermal cycles were done in my digitally controlled salt bath. It was clay coated, austenitized in a digitally monitored forge, and quenched in Park 50. It has a nice, undulating hamon (nothing crazy but worth bringing out if you wanna do some work ;) ). The tapered tang was cleaned up on the surface grinder, and the main bevels were cut in with a 60X belt. It was feathered down to an edge with a 120X belt on the rotary platen.

OAL- 8-1/4"
Blade- 3-13/16" L, 1-1/16" W, 0.138" thick at thickest point, tang tapers down to 0.016"

$85 shipped in the states (it's more because of the hamon work that went into it)

Last one for this post is an ATS-34 hunter. Heat treated by Paul Bos (around 15 years ago!) The tapered tang was cleaned up on the surface grinder. The bevels were cut in with a 60X belt and feathered down to an edge with a 120X belt on the rotary platen.

OAL- 8-3/8"
Blade- ~4"L, 1" W, 0.146" thick at thickest point, the tang tapers down to 0.016" :)

SOLD, Thanks Vince! :) $65 shipped in the states

Man I'm so close to pulling the trigger on that Bowie, that would save so much time lol

Trust me, these blanks are all a "double sided" deal for me.

***warning--- the following is thinking out loud + brutal honesty, nothing more/nothing less :) ***

Take that bowie for example... On one hand, I know most folks are used to seeing "kit blades" that cost about $20, so $150 probably sounds insane. I can totally appreciate that! :)

But on the other hand, I could put a guard and handle on that blade and it would be an $800 knife... hand sand it too, and it would be a $1000 knife. So I am definitely torn on pricing/offering these up for sale. :)

Thanks for looking guys!

Oh, and Sonny, I fired back a pm at 'ya- thanks! :)

***edited to add-
I was hesitant to write that because I know it could come off as kind'a snippy, or like I don't appreciate folks putting their hard earned money toward these--- Cuz I am not a snippy person, and I DO APPRECIATE everyone's support! :) I was just trying to explain how I find myself on both the customer's side with sticker shock, and the maker's side with a twinge of seller's remorse. :) Hope that makes sense. :)
